Hello All,

I was considering making the switch from Comcast to DirecTV and since I already have a series 2.5 with a lifetime subscription I wanted to make sure that it would work with the DirecTV receivers. Would it work just like your standard cable box via serial cable or IR cable?

Also, I managed to pickup an RCA DVR80 DirecTivo unit at a yard sale for $10 this past weekend. Will this unit continue to be supported by DirecTV for the foreseeable future? I know that they have their own version of DVR software similar to the Comcast DVR software.

Thanks!

Yes, you can use a DirecTV receiver with a Standalone TiVo.

You can use the RCA DVR, if it is "clean" accountwise.
