I'm ready to upgrade the drive in my Hughes HDVR2, and was prepared to get a 320GB Seagate through Newegg. Then I noticed they had two models--one was "AV" and could have "multiple cameras hooked to the same drive" (could write multiple streams at once) and the other offered perpendicular recording. They were the same price, but the perpendicular drive has free shipping.

I understand the AV drive's theoretical advantage, but for a DirecTiVo would it matter?

Go for the free shipping. no difference for the TiVo.
