It's a great series, so if you haven't seen it and have DirecTV, check it out.

Warning: Violence. blood, etc.
If its anything like when they showed the first couple of episodes of The Tudors, they will be heavily edited.
Well, if the case is that they will edit the hell out of it, I would recommend anybody who hasn't seen it yet to get, or rent, the DVDs and watch it unedited. And be sure to start with epi 1 and go through the season in order.

I watched season 1 twice and am looking so forward to season 2. Such an excellent show, but it must NOT be censored!
I'm guessing since it's on the 101 that it will be heavily edited as that channel is pretty much an "all access" channel and not normally thought about when it comes to setting parental controls. (And truthfully, I've never watched anything on there so I don't know if they do tone it way down for 'family viewing' or leave things unedited).

Also, I just got off the phone with DirecTV. I had called because when I went to schedule these for recording I was getting messages that they are PPV (on the HR20) or a 741 error (on my HR10-250). And the channel # was showing as T101 and not just 101. What they told me after checking with someone else is that these are coded right now as "view only" (and he linked it to preparations that are going on with the new sat).

So it looks like (can't confirm until tomorrow night) you can view the channel live, but can't record it. News to me and I'm glad I found out now and not Tuesday when I went to watch a recording that isn't there!
See less See more
they are going to have some nudity on passions when it moves over there so it seems kind of dumb that they would edit these shows

I was able to setup a manual recording of the channel using my HDVR2 (but trying to use the Guide or Search gave me the errors you described) .
For us cable users, is it still available on demand? I caught up to the show 2/3 through the first season by watching it all on demand.

Hadn't thought of that - I'll have to give it a shot and see if it works. Plus I'll watch live - this one time :) boy will that seem weird - just in case.

Thanks for the suggestion!

UPDATE: I did just try to tune to 101, then hit the record button on my HR10-250. That recorded as well and I was able to play back what I had recorded. I did not try that on my HR20, but I did set a manual recording. I'll see if that works, too. Much prefer to record it and watch when the time is right!
I too had to set a Manual Recording of Time and Channel - and it worked.

I watched the first episode of it, and I was already into it after the first 15 minutes or so.
Barely heard of this show until recently - got Manual Recording set up and am enjoying greatly. Question: Just how "edited" is this version? Other than a few cases where the audio seemed not to track (e.g. "What the Hell..." instead of "What the F***..."), have not spotted any obvious cuts.

Are we missing much with the Channel 101 version?
