I guess there's not too much interest in discussing this show. I've been watching since the first episode but the last elimination was the only one I wanted to post about.

Woo Hoo... Cathy's gone!!!

:)

There... it's out of my system.

She really annoyed the $&*% out of me.

No favorites in the group remaining, but there are a few I like. I wouldn't watch any of their shows though.

I'm 100% with you on all counts, Jeremy. Hubby actually /clapped/ when Cathy got kicked off this week, he couldn't stand her 'bug eyes'. I hated the fact that she seemed to treat everyone else as hired help, and she clearly didn't want to get involved in the dirty work if she didn't have to, she much preferred to be the one shopping.
I watch the show, but I don't have much to say about it.

Other than Good Riddance to Cathy! :p

It seems obvious that they are heading towards a Mark vs. Kellie finale. I am not sure how Mark is getting all that praise for the skateboard thingie, but whatever. And Kellie cries too much. But nobody is really standing out with the designs so far, this is a pretty lame bunch overall imho.

Meg and Kevin aren't telegenic enough. The judges aren't going to say that, but c'mon, this is a contest about finding a TV host. And Meg's voice is enough to get her dinged. I don't know how anyone could want to listen to that screech on a regular basis.
Didn't know this was on. Will try to catch up on OnDemand. Thanks.

BTW, I find Vern Yip especially annoying on this show.

I haven't been watching lately, but in previous seasons I found him to be pretty condescending towards the contestants.

I believe there was a collective sigh of relief across the nation when she was told they wouldn't be producing her show.

Did you know she had her wedding in 3 magazines? :p

Yeah, I don't get that. Last week (or was it the week before?) he spent most of his time making a crappy looking rope ladder. This time he spends tons of time making a crappy looking wall-art piece with plastic wire wraps! of all things. I'm sure all the people at the wedding were saying WTF and rolling their eyes at that one.

Wow! And I think she said it was three NATIONAL magazines!!! :p
I couldn't be happier that Diane is gone. Hated her attitude and inability to work with others. We laughed every time she showed the "bug eyes" in her interviews -- must be a nervous habit. Oddly, they never showed up on her camera challenges.

Even though he didn't do well this week, I really like the tall guy (Karl?). On the weeks that he "won" the final challenge, I loved his designs (examples: tree mural and broken-dishes back-splash). I am hoping the finale is a showdown between him and Mark.

I've also liked his work a lot. His sense of style meshes with mine.

However, he doesn't seem to work well with others and is a bit childish when he doesn't get his way. And I don't think he has the camera-friendly personality that they need for a TV show host. He'll really need to step up his game to win this thing.

It really did seem that way.
Kellie's (I mean MEG's) voice is like fingernails on a blackboard. I would never watch a show that she hosted.

It did! But I guess they have changed their minds.

I did not understand why Mark was getting such overpraise for his craft projects, but I guess his luck ran out. He was not improving enough on his camera challenges and never did seem that comfortable.

I still can't stand Meg's screech voice. Ugh. I don't know how anyone would want to watch her as a TV host on a regular basis.
I didn't get Mark's belt thing on the walls. Vern might of liked his thinking outside the box but it was hideous. And now there are a bunch of NY'ers with pants that are falling down because he bought all those belts.

I know the panel praised Meg last night for her presence and on camera personality. Really? Are we even watching the same person. IMHO she's way too in your face and over the top. I can barely take her for these small clips, I'd never be able to watch a whole show of her.

And Karl... meh... He certainly had the best little house IMHO but something about him just bugs me.
I don't mind Kelli that much but I do prefer Karl over her. And do people really live in those tiny houses? CRAZY!!

I only quoted your one line above, but I think I'm in agreement with all of your comments. Karl is my remaining favorite -- I preferred some of the personalities that were eliminated long ago, but not their design choices -- but I'm still not convinced that I'd watch any of their shows. I don't see a future Candice (sp?), Vern, Genevieve, or David here. I wouldn't give any of the contestants carte blanche to redo a room in my house. (I would give Candice the keys and tell her to do whatever she wants. I just couldn't afford her!;))

Bob
I like Karl's design sense the best of all of this season's contestants, but I don't know that I'd watch his show.
UGGH!! THEY PICKED THE WRONG ONE! I can't believe they picked frog-voiced Meg over Karl! I liked Karl's room SO much better - it was elegant and beautifully set and wow, just WOW. I was so convinced that Karl would win that I looked ahead to see if there was a "Design Star Winner" show in the upcoming HGTV listing. I will not be tuning in to Meg's show.
No way will I watch Meg's show, I cannot stand her voice. Karl's room was so much better, it seemed like he really paid attention to what his clients wanted, and I really enjoyed his presentation.
Hopefully they'll at least get rid of the "design police" theme from Meg's show.
