Dead Tivo, How to get recordings?

My Hughes SD-DVR40 totally gave out today after a few weeks of running only with 1 tuner as it cannot find a signal on either tuner. I made the stupid mistake of running the satellite setup again and now it is stuck because it can't find the satellite. Is there any way I can cancel the setup and get back to the NPL? I tried rebooting but it went back to setup after it restarted. Help!

Hitting the TiVo button (or DirecTV in this case) should get you to the menu.

Negative. Once Guided Setup is started, It Must Complete. If the unit is hacked, you can make it think it's completed. There's a kickstart code to put it in demo mode, but I've never seen the actual code documented -- nor have I seen any DTivo respond to a kickstart code.
