OK, so it probably won't be with Paula Marshall and Jeremy Piven, but it's still Rob Thomas's show, and that is good enough to look forward to.
Believe it: ABC has asked "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas to start working on a new version of his cult favorite "Cupid," which aired way back in the 20th century (the 1998-99 season, to be exact). Thomas has a development deal with ABC Studios and has been kicking around new version of the show with executives there.
I think you're confusing the actor with the fact he was cast because he could play the role as it was written. I am a big fan of both Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall, but they did not write the words nor create the characters, although they certainly added to what was on the page. As he's proven with Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas will have little trouble finding more good actors to bring his stories to life.IJustLikeTivo said:I watched the original only for Paula Marshall. Without her, I'd have no reason to watch. It was where I first discovered how good Jeremy was. It would also suck without his nifty sarcastic take on Cupid.
Not really. Piven seems to bring that snarky attitude to most of his roles. If you watched his reality program where he traveled to India, he seems to pretty much channel that attitude.balboa dave said:I think you're confusing the actor with the fact he was cast because he could play the role as it was written. I have a feeling Piven brought a lot of himself to that role. It was typical Piven. Piven and John Cusack grew up in the same theater group (belonged to Piven's parent's), and you can see it, especially when they are playing off of each other in a film.balboa dave said:I think you're confusing the actor with the fact he was cast because he could play the role as it was written. From that I assume that JP took a role from JC?busyba said:They should cast John Cusack, just for the irony.![]()
JC and JP are friends from "the old days" and for a long time when JC was big and JP was still on the way up, JC would throw JP a bone and arrange for JP to get a part in any movie he was invovled in.IJustLikeTivo said:From that I assume that JP took a role from JC?
