The "commitment of a weekly television series" almost had me on the floor laughing.

Sorry, but that's not even close to year-round, no matter what, with only some 22 or so episodes a season. Slacker. Now someone who is on a 52-week-a-year soap opera might have a valid complaint. :)

Don't be silly, man they are on the set from dawn to after dark. It would get really old after a while. It doesn't make her a slacker at all.
For how many weeks? How many episodes are filmed within one week? For 22 episodes total.

Assuming she works dawn 'til dusk for 22 weeks, she is still getting several weeks off when you look at total number of hours worked for the year.

I wouldn't say she's a slacker, but 22 weeks of TV episodes isn't that tough on an individual. Perhaps she'd like to try waitressing at say an Olive Garden for a change. After about 22 weeks of that work, I'd think she'd be begging for a regular series job. :D

Especially with a 6-figure paycheck PER EPISODE.

I think each episode probably takes more than a week to film.

I think if you're been on a TV series for a long time, you long for the freedom to do other things, but when you're doing movies for a long time, you long for the structure and set schedule of a TV series...

Ultimately it's her choice what to do with her time--if she's smart, she's probably got enough money socked away to live comfortably for the rest of her life--she just disappears from the public eye and does those things that she wants to do.

I think many dramas can take more then a week and are more involved. It is sitcom workers who have the cush gig. They don't work a full day all week and do one show a week.
On shows where there's a lot of effects involved, I've seen things arranged as two or three production teams; still, they generally film for a week then the team gets it to finish it off while the next episode goes into production with the cast filming for a week and handing it off to the next production team to finish, et. al.

But generally each episodes principal photography is scheduled for a week at a time. There might be special cases such as episodes that require distant-location filming or other unique requirements.

Didn't she do the same thing when she left ER? Again, not the lead actress but the demands were too great.

I wish the demands of my tv show were too great for me. If I quit my job saying the demands were too great, then I'd have to get another job where the demands were too great. Welcome to adulthood, Jorja.
