The fine print of the $200 S3 rebate that begins tomorrow indicates the unit must be purchased from an authorized TiVO dealer.

Getting ready to buy an S3 and would love to get the Costco "lifetime" satisfaction guarantee, but as the Costco online description for the product indicates they are NOT an authorized retailer - I assume that a purchase from them would not qualify for the rebate.

Anyone have any experience/idea that would indicate if my interpretation is correct?

Can anyone verify the current Costco IN-STORE price on the S3? I just got it from BestBuy for $799 and would love to get my $200 back! I'm not eligible for the rebate.

Thanks!
In the past, Costco did NOT offer the original S3 in the store but only mail order (which is how I got mine). I don't know if that has changed.

Question for you folks... if one wanted to purchase the THD from Costco .. and return one previously purchased (in last 30 days) to CircuitCity .. could you just take the one from Costco and give it to CircuitCity .. and thus not have to deal with swapping cablecards/hard drives/service stuff ...

In other words, do all these stores work off of the same UPC code .. or do they know which actual box they sold you?

The serial number is usually scanned.

When I bought my TivoHD from Circuit City they scanned only the UPC, I didn't see a bar code for a serial number (box is in storage so I can't check). The only products I am certain are specifically identified are satellite boxes and cell phones.

I'm sure you guys know this already....but the S3 is selling for $599 at circuit city without any mail in rebate.
Actually tomorrow it will be selling for $599 AND a $200 mail-in-rebate.

The barcode for the serial number is right below the UPC.

$599 in-store? I'm looking for ANY sub-$799 in-store price to use the BestBuy price-matching since I can't use the rebate.
In other threads here, I believe I've seen folks post that they've gotten the S3 from Circuit City for $599 - some even receiving a 10% discount (through a coupon).

Check out the thread about the $200 rebate - I think that may have been where I saw it (would post a link but it looks like the system won't allow links until you've made > 5 posts).

Go to circuitcity.com, search for the Series 3, add it to your cart and you will see the $599 price.

I need an IN-STORE price, not an online price.
OK, go into your nearest Circuit City. Go to the TV department. Find a Series 3 box. Take a picture of the price card on the shelf.

(The price is the same in-store, $599).

BTW, Best Buy will match a Circuit City web price - I do it all the time. In most cases, the BB clerk will go to the CC web site to verify the price anyway.

(also - not sure what store you are looking for - Costco has the Tivo HD for $279, it is Circuit City that has the Series 3 for $599, not Costco)
