Copying from PC to Tivo shows incorrect time length.
I copied several 2 hr video's from PC to Tivo, Tivo show 3hr as the total time and also when trying to jump forward it actually to jumps back. Example at about an hour I tried to jump forward but it backed about 15 minutes to but the progress bar jump forward 1minute as I had hit the button twice.

Apparently, you did not process the video files. If you use Windows, You could run VideoReDo and do QuickStreamFix. It fixes time glitches. I use it for every show I had downloaded with KMTTG, as well as DVD video.
Thanks. Don't remember having to do that before
What was the source of the videos and what format as it definitely sounds like there is an issue with them or perhaps they are having issues if they are being transcoded going back to the TiVo?

Scott
If using pytivo to transfer back - I recall there used to be an issue with times being elongated when transferring back to the TiVo which was caused by newer versions of ffmpeg. The solution was to go to an earlier version of ffmpeg (I remember using one from 2014) which transferred correctly.
Herron Scott - MP4 and MKV formats that were created with Cyberlink - same software I have always used. So this issue is when they are transcoded to TiVo.

eherberg - I will try to find an earlier version but I did update when I installed PyTiVo desktop.

Yeah it's something to do with the trasport stream muxer. If you use VideoReDo to convert the file to TS first it works perfectly. We use a lot of ffmpeg stuff in VRD but their transport stream muxer is pretty sh*tty.
I'm having the same problem. Is there a way to fix this without buying a software package? I checked the original .mp4 files on Windows and the times are correct. After transferring them with pyTiVo, the files play correctly on a TiVo but as the OP said, the time and some navigation is a little off. I'm not sure I'd pay for a full software suite just to fix that though.
I had a problem similar to this where the duration on the transferred file to the Tivo came out wrong on the Tivo and FF & Rewind did not work as expected.

My workaround was in pyTivo desktop to change under the Settings->Upload tab, Send files as transport streams to Off. This forced the file to be transcoded which made the Tivo happy again.

Good tip. I'll try it later.

Are there any negative side effects to changing that option?

Transcoding requires more overhead on the Computer side, and may take longer to get the file onto the Tivo, but in my case, having Tivo trickplay functions available is worth the overhead.

It works for me too. Thanks! Instead of taking 2 minutes per hour it took 20 but more than quick enough to watch while it transferred. Thanks again!
