Convert Series 1 to cable, possible?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search but found nothing.

I have 2 Hughes Series I DirecTv Tivos and obviously currently have satellite service.

We're considering switching to cable. Is there anyway to convert these boxes to work on cable as opposed to satellite?

no the DirecTv Tivos ONLY work with DIRECTV.
Bummer. But that's the conclusion I'd come to as well after researching it. I just was hoping that someone here knew a way to do it. :(

Thanks
If there were a reasonable way to do this conversion, it would probably be a sticky at the top of the forum. :)
DTivos do not have the mpeg encoders built-in that would allow them to be used with an analog source like cableTV. Going from analog to digital requires special processing that is not included in the DTivos hardware since they get their signals in digital format from the DTV sats which is recorded directly to the hard drive. Standalone Tivos must be able to convert an incoming analog signal to digital for recording to the hard drive.
yeah, if that's how they work then they're going to be pretty much useless for us after Friday. Thanks for the reply.
Not entirely useless. Sell DirecTV DVRs on eBay and use revenue to buy standalones. :)
