Convert a Tivo from DirecTV to cable

1612 Views 13 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Arcady
Is anyone familiar with the possibility of converting a Tivo from DirecTV use to cable company use? Is it possible & if, so what steps need to be taken? If not, any thoughts on what to do with this DirecTV Tivo.

Thanks,

Srebbie

Yes there is a really cool hardware store called ebay where you can get all the parts to make the swap.

IE sell it and buy a new one.
It would be like converting a VCR into a DVD player.
An often-asked question. And the answer is still "not possible".
Maybe we should create a sticky and call it "You CANNOT convert a Directv DVR to work with any other Service"

Same question gets asked every Week.

Question would still get asked. You give the people who keep asking too much credit.
Maybe they should make it so that in order to register for this forum, you have to type in some text to make sure you are a human. Make the text say something like "you can't use your old DirecTiVo with cable."

Yes.
No & n/a.
Great media extender.
You need to also add that a Series3 and TivoHD will NOT work with DTV as well.

You'd still get the "But why!?!? I cannot believe TiVo does not care about satellite users"

The OP's question wasn't the greatest question to ask, I made a wisecrack about it like some others did. Ha, Ha.

Don't you think you went kinda far by saying something about making sure you are human to register for this forum ?

What's your f-ing problem dude?

We could always make up a Series of questions you must answer before you can join the Forum. Something like a Drivers License Test.

You would have to study for Weeks before taking the Test, if you pass, then the Forum is wide open. If you fail...... you are cast aside and sent off to some remote Island somewheres.

:D

No, such a "test" is quite common in the internets. There are spam bot(t)s on here all the time. Having a question to confirm that you're not a bot(t) is not uncommon at all.

Log out and then go to the registration page. It makes you type in an alphanumeric randomly generated code in order to prove you are not a bot.

Calm down man.
