My tivo is acting strange. When I first turn on the TV for the day, it always is on one of the "Starting up, almost there" screens. Once that's complete, the Tivo works fine until I shut the system down, if it's a short shutdown (5-10 minutes) things will be normal when I turn the TV back on. If it's a longer period of time (hours or overnight) it always starts off in the boot up screen.

Hard drive/power supply issues can cause rebooting, and the tivo is close to 10 years old.... but the timing of the issue being so consistently (turning on the TV) makes me wonder if it's something else.

Everything was working fine until a week and a half ago when I had some work on my system to try and resolve some HDMI issues unrelated to the Tivo. They needed to enable eArc for that, however, the tivo isn't leveraging eArc, it's going straight to the receiver then to the TV.

Tivo--->Reciver--->TV

Anyone else experience something like this? Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply Brobin. The Tivo isn't plugged into the arc, the tivo is plugged into the receiver which then goes into the ARC of the TV. Would you still make the recomendation of going directly to the TV? It's not easy with my setup to go directly into the TV with the Tivo (TV is wall mounted on first floor, tivo in basement in an equipment rack).

I can try that, but it would be a pretty big project.

Try plugging the receiver into a non-ARC HDMI port on the TV. The ARC port is talking to the receiver so it'll be interesting to see if that makes a difference. When we turn on our Samsung TV the TV tells the receiver to turn on via ARC. About ten seconds later it tells the receiver to switch the audio input to AV3 and kills the sound. We then have to set the input back to "Tivo" for the sound.

Has a fix been found for this? Same thing is happening with my setup. It was a 6 year old unit so I thought it may have been a HD issue. Bought a new Roamio from weeknees and same problem. I'm assuming is a CEC issue, but didn't think the Roamio had CEC capabilities. Can those be turned off in the unit?

This makes 0 sense then, the same day I turned on CEC on my TV (to fix another problem) this issue started. I'm gonna try some ways to remove the signal from the HDMI signal, will report back on if that works.
