Hi all,

I've been seeing alot about the new Tivo HD, and would love to get one. I was wondering about a couple things. Maybe someone here could answer?

I currently have a Series 2 ST. I am month-to-month with a discounted 6.95/month rate. If I go out and purchase the new box, am I able to call Tivo up and tell them to switch my existing subscription over to new box, and retain my discounted rate? Are there any activation fees associated with doing this? I was thinking of giving my old Tivo to someone. When they call to activate, would it just be like activating a new box (activation fee, etc)?

I'm not sure about your discount rate but I would suspect it applies only to your current Tivo. I could be wrong though. I would recommend giving them a call and asking.

As for your second question transferring a Tivo to someone else isn't hard. Just make sure Tivo knows you've cancelled that unit from your subscription and that's it. Give it to a friend or family member, sell it on Ebay... go nuts.

You should be able to transfer your existing S2 contract online without calling Tivo.

In that case, when you give the box to your friend, they would activate it as if it was new box.
