Comcast install fee question

It seems like Comcast's pricing varies by region, buy I have 4 TVs (only 1 HD) and I don't pay anything for the 3 SD sets.

If it's a fee to run the cable to the 3 other rooms (assuming it's not there already), then it doesn't seem unreasonable as a one time fee.

I've never paid install charges to Comcast (including running new cables to rooms without--I've moved several times). I tell them I want a new subscriber free install, since the satellite companies don't charge.

And they charge $14.99 for TiVo cable card install (existing customers).

I should have tried the free install route. My dad was on satellite (which I will be on until my DTivo's stop or I go HD).

The lines are already run to the rooms and all the wires go to one spot in the attic. I'm hoping he will terminate all 4 feed from the tvs and hook them up to the main feed with a splitter even though he is only having "1 tv" installed.

I already had Comcast cable and they are charging me $14.95 to bring 2 cablecards. The first card is free and the second card costs about $2.

I just went and picked up my CableCards yesterday. They charged me a $100 deposit, does this sound right?

I tried installing them, but I can't repeat the guided setup because I don't have DSL hooked up in my new place yet.

What are "outlet fees"? They told us that each TV needs an outlet fee. Can I just throw a splitter on the cable connect his 3 other rooms without paying the outlet fee? I would not need a cable box for any of them and realize I would not get "digital" channels.

If the 3 other TVs are analog, and don't need cable run, then yes you should just do it yourself for free. They don't charge for analog TVs, only digital STBs (install and monthly.) make SURE they don't try to charge monthly outlet fees if these are analog!!
If you don't have any cable to the TVs, I'd maybe let them do it, since they often give you good "free" cable/splitters to finish the hookups.

The $28 TivoHD install seems a bit much, but it varies... might ask them what it takes to install just single cablecard install, and compare...

That's what I thought. I had my dad just tell him the one tv. I couldn't get him to budge on the $28 either but it is only $10 more than it should cost.
