I just saw a brand new System Message showing at least 100 channels being deleted and nothing comparable added. Some of them are important like my favorite like Food Network 841. ESPNHD, CSPAN, CNNHD, etc. etc. etc.

How do I figure out if this is a comcast issue or a tivo guide issue?

Channel 841 (et als) are still viewable (for now), but there is no program info. Info says "Title Not Available" and Description not available. the channel number/acronym does show correctly.

I checked my local Xfinity lineup (I think its based out of Gardner MA) and it shows these channels as valid with the same number. Which makes me think its a Tivo Guide issue.

Where do I start?

I can't imagine that Comcast/Xfinity could downgrade my plan that drastically... wait did I pay my bill? :)

I wonder if Comcast is going to finally get rid of the lower channels since they rolled out their "new" channel map? You should have Food Network at channel 1484 as well.

Interesting tip on 1484. Yes, that is Food Network, but still "Title/Description Not Available". When I browse the Guide to see what neighboring channels there are, the highest is 901 and the lowest is 8. Can only get to 1484 by entering the 4 numbers.

Do I have to re-learn my Channel lineup?

All settled but I'm not sure what happened. I just went to channel lineup and started checking off most of the 800 and 900 channels (whether or not I receive them). I also did the same with the 1000 series equivalents. In hindsight I did NOT stop to observe if last night's problem was still occurring before I did that. Wish I had!

After I did all those checkmarks, I was accessing various channels to see what was what and everything was looking back to normal. In a few minutes, I got another system message that showed "the following channels have been added..." and there were hundreds of channels. I don't know if it was because *I* added them or just a coincidence that the wrong was made right.

I was thinking a scan might be a good idea to get a more accurate channel list, but don't want to mess with that if not necessary. I don't use Channel-Up-Down much, so I think it's harmless if I have stuff checked off that I don't receive.

Sounds like a mistake that was corrected. Next time just press A and switch to all channels in the guide to check what channels are showing.

They may have added all the over 1000 channels for you. I'm on the Cape and they did this around 2 years ago. But all the lower channels still work.
