bad data.. I had one episode recorded as a suggestion and it was called "The new columbo" IIRC.. that was the same ABC revival.

(Though I'm usually absolutely against recasting an iconic role like this, I think Columbo is something they could do a new version of, and potentially do well.)

I recorded Columbo episodes for a while in late 2020 from the local MeTV channel. I was really looking forward to watching them since I remembered them fondly from when I was a young. However, the two hour episode lengths wore on me and I stopped recording them. It just seemed like a one hour storyline was stretched into two hours. I feel guilty about dropping it though.

One of my all-time most favoritest favorite shows (the original series, didn't care for any of the reboots, the writing wasn't nearly as crisp, something that Falk himself acknowledged). This was, by far, the finest crime show of its era. Falk's characterization is legendary; the famous guest stars, the clever dialogue, and those intricate plots, with Columbo honing in on the killer, usually very quickly, then annoying them to no end, and finally that "gotcha" moment when he finds the goof that trips up the bad guy. I've watched them all several times, though not in many years. May be time to go through them again. A show ahead of its time, it would fit right in with the "New Age of TV" these days.

Love the show as well. We just re-watched "Prescription Murder", with Gene Barry, on Prime the other day.

So many great bad guys! The Johnny Cash episode was one of my favorites. Robert Culp's, too.

"Any Port In A Storm" (the wine tasting episode), was another great yarn, IMHO.

I went on a binge a few years ago and watched them over and over. I wish I had missed some because it would be nice to catch one I haven't seen in 40 years.

I still have it set to record Saturday night, but generally cancel before it records since I've seen it. Unless it is a really good classic, like the above-mentioned Any Port In A Storm, along with Negative Reaction (with Dick Van ****).

And if you don't know about it, the Columbo Phile page has some great information. I love reading about the episodes there.

The Robert Culps were definitive Columbo episodes. Falk worked great with great actors like Donald Pleasance (Any Port...) but mainly he was focused on the communication, between both the actors and the characters, each riffing solo but somehow simultaneously connected and intertwined. Culp and Pleasance were miles apart in acting skills, but both "got" what Falk was doing and reveled in it.

I watched several episodes of Columbo when NBC Peacock came on-line just to see what they'd done with Video Quality. I mentioned it here somewhere and was criticized.

(like usual, I have too many programming choices already but didn't realize this was on peacock)

I'm guessing MOST of the episodes are the syndication cuts? episodes list as 74-98 minutes just browsing around a couple of seasons. The ~95+ minute ones probably are unedited?

All the classics are good, just recently saw the pilot Prescription For Murder for the first time was great. The classic and 90's Shatner ones are good too. Had to fast fwd. thru like the first 40 minutes of the 90's painter one (to the murder) was dreadful till Columbo showed up, was ok then.

Cozi is showing the late 80's Columbo's but guide dates them 2020. Is there a reason for this, repackaging or something or just bad data.
It's very common on the sub channels for the Guide Data to be messed up. I don't know why it's so difficult for them to get it right.
