Since this thread already has a Spoiler tag, I will go ahead and comment here.

Wife and I binged the whole season today. Thought it was good, we got what we expected from a Cobra Kai season, some characters go bad, some are conflicted, and some are redeemed. Oh, and lots of great fight scenes.

I wasn't a big fan of Terry Silver, could never get a lay of what his angle was (until the very end.)

Once again, I think Peyton List shines as Tory. I have way more sympathy for Tory than I can ever have for Sam.

And, the special guest at the tournament was a big surprise. Guess
Carrie Underwood
must have been a fan of the show.

And, i wasn't sure if this was the last season, but I guess there has to be a S5?

I binge watched it today (1/1/22). They set it up nicely for a Season 5, without doing an annoying cliff hanger. The Okinawan guy showing up at the end cinched that whole theory. So much of this story is standard simplistic human nature at its core. At least it's entertaining at some level. Nice to see the "greater evil" finally bring the two grown kids together. That was the main redeeming part of this season. I was surprised to see the guest entertainer. She must be a fan of the series and/or movies. You never know. I was expecting a comment from Johnny "Who is she?" since he's only familiar with the metal rock stuff, or whatever.

Disclaimer: I'm guessing that the character was Okinawan since that's where the movie supposedly took place.

The wife and I watched the entire season last night. A few observations:

1. No chance in any way that the girls final would have been after the boys final. My wife wholeheartedly agrees. Understood that it added to the drama, but not a chance that happens in real life.
2. World wide audience? Seriously for an UNDER 18 California Valley karate tournament? Come on.
3. So there has been no looking into 2 Viet Nam veterans now twice involved in karate scandals ( not to mention the brazen destruction of property and what should be multiple counts of assault and battery) where kids are being pummeled, maimed and generally going to need PTSD counseling when their karate careers have been cut short.
4. These same two guys have now had UNDER 18 kids under their tutelage multiple times. These guys are in their 60's/70's and they are still involved in UNDER 18 karate tournaments???
5. Billy Zabka is great in his role and love to once again see the yin/yang that is Daniel vs Johnny and the moral ambiguity of who is the actual bad guy in this relationship. (More like they are both good/a little evil.)

I know there is more but we really also enjoyed hate watching the show , and can't wait for more of the same in Season 5!

Was that the same guy that Daniel faced in his match in Okinawa?

Yes. and helped train him during a previous season of Kobra Kai. Actually taught him the dark side of the force, which Myagi had hidden from him. And by "dark side", I'm referring to the more aggressive and dangerous techniques.

Yea, one of things I was going to mention was how unrealistic the show can be. But, to the shows credit, it does not try and hide it. For the past few seasons, my wife and I have commented that things would be so much easier if characters woudl just call 911. This season, several characters directly mentioned calling the police, but were dismissed.

The annoyed neighbor actually tried to call 911 but StinkRay smacked the phone out of his hand and beat him up.

I enjoyed the season and look forward to season 5.

A few things I found a real stretch even for this show. The debate girl doing really well in the tournament as well as the small black kid. I find it hard to believe that those two would do so well with only a couple months training. Most of the other kids have at least a year of training.

I don't think it is completely out of possiblity. Many organizations have started alternating male and female finals to ensure fairness.

But, in this case, it also made the boy's final anti-climatic. Hawk has to win to setup the Tory/Sam showdown for the team championship. Otherwise, Cobra Kai is the team champion, regardless.

Finished the season last night. Overall I liked it. I agree there wasn't too much tension about the Eli/Robby fight. Unless they were planning on pissing off the fans by not showing the girl's fight , it was a foregone conclusion.

I liked Daniel and Johnny coming together at the end. Maybe there's hope for them yet. I couldn't care less about Carrie Underwood showing up and really didn't see the point of it. I was however surprised to see Chozen there at Mr. Miyagi's grave site.

I'm guessing S5 will have Daniel & Johnny using the forbidden knowledge to take out Silver/Kreese. Although I wonder how much of an impact Kreese will have with him being arrested. I have to admit I enjoyed Thomas Ian Griffin's turn at Terry Silver.

I'm pretty sure next season we'll see the return of Mike Barnes as well.

My prediction S5 will have Daniel going dark, perhaps even going as far as blowing up his marriage and car dealership in pursuit of ending Cobra Kai once and for all now that he's concluded they must be the aggressors now. I think Johnny, in his Mexico adventure to help Miguel, will learn some lessons about not striking first and control will then come back and help Daniel find balance.
