I never intended to watch this show. I never intended to LIKE this show. I now find myself looking forward to episode two more than any new show this season.

Feel free to spoil the movies -- I am not a fan of intense slasher films -- in fact, please do point out any Easter Eggs and/or call-backs to the original canon.

Why do i like this Chucky? For me, I think it might be that this is an adaptation specifically for television, and of necessity needs to fill an entire season with more character arcs than a stand-alone movie could do.

I am invested in the kid. I like that it has not opened with full horror, but teases the possibility. The suspense is killing me, and i love it.

(bumping my own thread with a check-in.) I took a break from the TV show to watch the movies "Curse of Chucky" and "Cult of Chucky" to get more backstory. (The SyFy conveniently aired them for me.) I skimmed the one movie because i really don't enjoy the graphic murder scenes, but "Cult" had more of a psychological horror approach, and i did enjoy it. This set me up well for the "Little Little Lies" episode, which would not have made as much of an impact with the appearance of two characters from the movie world without knowing anything about their backstory.

Even better, after that ep there was a bonus behind-the-scenes interview with the two actresses, and I did NOT realize who was playing the role of younger Charles Lee Ray. Very cool.

I haven't reached the season finale yet, but I'm glad the show has been renewed for a 2nd season.

I still have a few episodes of the series to watch, but I have now watched 6 of the 7 Child's Play / Chucky movies (all but the 1st) thanks to SyFy airing them (in reverse order, why?) I admit to using the fast-forward button A LOT but it was worth it.

I was in a shopping mall tonight and passed by a store with a Good Guys doll on the shelf. I was soooo tempted, but it was closing time. I might need to go back (after the holidays)

WHAT??!! I have never seen the doll for sale...not even at Comic Con!
I finally got a photo of the doll -- now two versions -- plus actual Good Guys breakfast cereal for sale too, in a different store. I did not buy any of these items, but I am looking forward to a 2nd season of the show -- maybe they'll make new merchandise in the future!

I'd completely forgotten about this show. I haven't watched it yet, but have all eight episodes of S1 sitting on my TiVo. Maybe I'll get around to watching it now that summer rerun season has arrived. Sounds like I'll like it. Also have all 10 episodes of Day of The Dead right above it. And the all have SkipMode, that's a plus.
