Chuck 10/8/2007 (S01E03) "Chuck Versus the Tango"

This was hilarious, especially when Captain Awesome taught Chuck the Tango, then later when John revealed needing to know how was a joke, and finally when he actually needed to Tango, and then discovered he was taught the follow role, not the lead.

I enjoyed this episode and thought it flowed really nicely. Very good. Yes, the tango part was great. Spy humor. I loved Morgan being trapped in the cage and then Chuck fixing the computers in the tux. And the thug in the freezer bit. Two big guys as big as fridges, fighting among them.

"chuck bartowski report to the cage now, paging chuck to the cage"
This was a LOT better than last week's rather mediocre effort. Some genuine suspense, and at the sime time more of the other characters from Buy more. I liked it a lot.
Here's my problem with the show. The kind of intel Chuck has in his head has got to have a pretty short shelf life. How long can he really be useful for?
I had a wacky thought... what if Captain Awesome and Chuck's sister were actually spies as well? They live in this huge house (condo? which would cost more than they seemingly could afford at their age), are in shape and constantly after Chuck to tell them about his new "girlfriend," who they've got to be aware is WAY out of his league.

Welcome to TV Land!

I was thinking about that as well, but then maybe it works by putting bits and pieces of his knowledge together to come up with the answer.

Little piece from this file, a picture from that file...

Aren't they both in the medical field? I think he is a doctor. I know we've seen him in scrubs before. But yes, tv living arrangements are always a little exaggerated...
I think I'm in love with Ms. Weinerlicious.
"when you go to sleep at night, all you're going to see is tang in your face."

I also loved it that they fixed the lock on the cage. I of course expected the big guy to rip the door off.
I'm loving this show.

The big guy, by the way, was on Dexter this week. Considering his acting skills, I'd say this is probably the best week he will ever have!
What was that green sign in the buy more back room? I saw the two buy more slogans, such as, "when you smile more, you sell more, and when you sell more, you smile more, ..." but couldn't quite catch the one that went something like, "service xxx NEVER takes a break".

So the arms dealer's name meant "the city"?

Yes she is, isn't she?

Great episode. The bit where he's tangoing the female part and she puts her hands on his chest was a nice bit of throwaway humor. The look on his face said he was wishing he'd learned the male part at that point. :) Quality comedy.
This was quite a bit more entertaining than last week's episode. Increased humor combined with less seriousness led to a much better show.
Good show!

I saw the "I don't know how to lead" bit coming a mile away, but it was still funny how they handled it.
Getting better by the week.

I really think they ought to just replace Morgan with Seth Green though, because that's all I can see whenever he shows up on screen. Just make the change already! :)

The rent is cheap because there's no fourth wall.

Why is he out of her league?

He is a good looking guy who has a self-confidence problem but with a brain (they keep harping on Stanford, so he ain't dumb). She, as far as his sister and Captain Awesome can tell, is a very pretty girl who cooks hot dogs for a living.

The understory seems to be that whatever happened at Stanford with his ex-roommate Bryce shattered his confidence. They keep referring to him having had a bright future.

If anything, he's out of HER league.
Chuck is my new favorite show. That blonde is a hottie. :D Baldwin is greatness too. Just kill off Morgan and everything is good.
