Channel Assignments?

1181 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ebonovic
I searched the forum and found no answer to this.

Anyone know what channel numbers the new HD's will be on.

Will the current ones still reside in the 70's? Will they go up to 99 and then find a higher series of numbers to put the rest and future HD additions on?

Just curious if anyone knows yet.

Right now, they are expected to be the same as their SD counterparts.
Those that don't have an SD counterpart, will be assigned an appropriate number.
(aka following the same model as the HD-LIL)

But until they are turned on... we won't know for certain.

Also note: You are posting here in a TiVo forum... the HR10-250 can not access the new HD networks. You will need an H20/21 or HR20

See www.dbstalk.com for more discussion
or
www.directv.com/hdcheck for more details on what equipment you will need.

No LIL's in this part of the country, can you elaborate. If NFL Network is now 212, are you saying that the MPEG4 feed would also be 212? Meaning, unlike with the current MPEG2 channels, you wouldn't have the choice to watch record the HD or SD feed?

Yes... if it is setup that way...

If you are on an H20/21 or HR20... it will tune to the HD version.
If you want the SD version, you have to select it via the guide, or when you tune the 212 you will have to hit channel up, to get to the SD version.

You can set the recording on either one.

Cool. I was just curious. Having SD receivers and a 10-250, but no LIL, I had never seen that. I suppose the only reason I would ever consider taping an SD broadcase would be if I was nearly out of disk space.

Actually I do it on a fairly regular basis.

Show like Deal or No Deal; Singing Bee; Amazing Race, Survior and some specials and other things... that are only in SD...
I just record the SD versions, to save on the drive space.

It is amazing how fast the 50hrs fill up.
Need to get my 1.5tb eSATA onto my main system... (~250hrs of MPEG-4)
