changed my xfinity plan and my TiVO STILL works

ATT fiber internet recently came into my area. I decided to switch to it, but was initially hesitant cause I had an Xfinity TV/internet bundle with 2 cable cards (in Roamios). I had read that ANY kind of change to your service will then make the cable cards stop working.

I need to keep the Xfinity TV for a project that involves recording local and public access channels on my TiVos. I was afraid switching my plan would kill my TiVO cable cards, but after dropping my Xfinity internet AND switching to the Xfinity "choice" TV package, all still works on my TiVOs. This move cut my monthly bill dramatically.

Now, it may be my area or I just got lucky, but I did also adamantly verify several times with the online rep that my cable cards would still work with my TiVos. I even got a chat reference number and copied the whole chat thread in case I needed it for future reference. He kept insuring me my TiVOs would still work & so far they have. My AT&T fiber internet works fantastic too. I'm sure it has to do with being a current Xfinity customer, but just passing this info along in case other "current customers" are hesitant. Also just make sure to get ANY kind of documentation backing up their claim that your TiVos will still work

What was also kind of interesting was that when I went to return my Xfinity modem at my local office, another customer was in front of me doing the same thing and returning his xfinity modem cause he got ATT fiber. I read that Xfinity is now BLEEDING internet customers as well as TV due to many other choices; Fiber, satellite, Tmobile/Verizon home internet, etc.

Great information, just what I was wondering about! I'll have to look into switching from Xfinity "Digital Starter" to Xfinity "choice TV package", but was afraid of loosing my TiVo cable card.

Currently paying $93.56 for something called "Video Price" which is Video Services that Includes Digital Starter and 20 Hours Of DVR Service which I don't have. Don't know how they changed my old plan to Video Services and DVR service.

Thanks!

They are putting this on several old plans that I've seen on clients accounts - I just worked on one this past week & this client had an old Moto SD DCH100 cable box (connected to a Panasonic HDTV! ) & SBG6782 gateway. I upgraded him to an XG2 cable box & XB8 gateway, since they no longer charge for the gateway on new plans.

You CAN actually use the 20 hours of DVR service that's evidently included in your plan, w/out needing an X1 box - you would need to use a streaming device like a Roku or Firestick, which does not cost anything extra to use, even if you only have CC's on your account...obviously it's all cloud-based.
This might be useful for you, if you were interested in viewing or recording any of the IP-only channels that are most likely included in your Digital Starter plan, which can't be accessed on Tivos.
