I have searched around for the answer to this but I keep getting false results because of the issue shares many key words with other unrelated problems.

I recently got a series 2 DT Tivo and everything is going well except that the unit will not change the channel it is displaying when it starts to record. I know this is because it starts the recoding on the other tuner, but I would like it to also change to that channel so that given whatever line up we have for the evening it TV will just change to the correct channels at the correct time without intervention.

Is there an option that I can set within the TiVo to get this result or am I out of luck with the dual tuner?

I think this is going a bit far, wanting the TV to change channels by itself.

I mean, you have a remote. Use it to switch to the tuner that's making the recording, or, since you apparently want to WATCH the show you're recording, then just switch the tuner you ARE using to the same channel.

I mean, you really don't need the TV to tell you when to change channels, or what to watch when, do you?

Where did you come up with the idea that the OP wants that? and FWIW, my TV can be set up to change channels on it's own, so even if that was what the OP wanted, there are TV's that do it.

The only way to get the same channel on both tuners is to set up two simultaneous recordings on that channel.

The OP said

"I would like it to also change to that channel so that given whatever line up we have for the evening it TV will just change to the correct channels at the correct time without intervention."

You know Mick, we really need to pay attention to what an OP actually says.

As for getting the "other tuner" to display, rather than the one that's recording, I'd like to suggest things don't actually work the way you suggest. Even cable company DVRs can switch to "the other tuner", and if memory serves DT owners have said they can do it, namely watch one channel while recording another.

I mean, facts don't go out the window depending on who's posting in a thread, do they, Mick?

As for your TV changing channels on its own, well goodie for you.
