If this is addressed in another post, sorry, but I did try searching.
I have a series 2 and a direcTV tuner (S-video and IR blaster). I do not have cable and would like to use the second channel to record using another device that puts an rf signal on channel 3 or 4 (a VCR or another sat receiver). Since I have a channel 4 on my sattelite program, I set up the second receiver to recieve "cable channels" . I then deleted all of the cable channels except for channel 3. I set up my vcr to output channel 3 and got the signal to appear through as channel 3 Cable on my Tivo. I know the actual program I would record would not be what the guide shows, but I would be able to use the second channel. The problem is that although I can receive what is coming in on channel 3, the Tivo keeps a message at the bottom saying in effect "searching for cable signal" agian the only channel that is being fed to the DVR is channel 3 and it is looking for all of the other cable channels that have been de-selected. Does anyone know how I can prevent this message from appearing or have another sugestion for using the RF input without cable? thanks for any info.

If you mean you have a Series 2 DT with satellite only, yes, you could manually use the second tuner to record from a source that provides CH3 or fall on a cable channel, if only manually.

Thanks for the response classicsat.
I did get the VCR rf output to show up as Cable CH3, but since this is the only "cable" channel that would appear, there is a message showing up on the bottom of the screen (no matter what channel I am viewing) saying that it can not locate the other real cable channels. I have desellected all of the cable channels exceet 3 from my channel list, but it still wants to receive them. I want to know if anyone knows a way to remove the message and not look for the other channels.
