Heres the deal....

I have Direct TV w/ Tivo now. I own the unit. Im changing to Comcast. I have them installing a DVR in one of my rooms but I dont want this Direct TV Tivo to go to waste. Can I use it as a straight up TIVO?

Nope. Only receives and records DTV.

Short answer: no.
