Can I copy and replace just one hard drive in a 2 drive R10 Directivo and keep all my tv shows and movies? My 80GB primary drive is noisy so I wanted to copy it to a new 80GB drive and put it back in my system. Will this work using Hinsdale's guide or will the drives be divorced and not recognize each other?

PS: I tried posting this in the upgrade forum but didn't get any replies.

I've never tried it, but you should be able to do it using the 'dd' command in Linux. You would have to make sure that the replacement drive is at least as big as your original 80gb. Even other 80gb drives might not work, depending on the drive. You could always use a 100gb drive, in which case only 80gb will be used. You would just have to boot up with a linux boot cd, maybe even mfstools or mfslive, and then do something like:

dd if=/dev/hdx of=/dev/hdy

Where x is the old drive, and y is the new drive.

Am I going to screw up the second drive if it doesn't work?
