Recordings have to be transferred and not streamed.
Thanks. That's kind of a ridiculous reason to not allow all recordings, but it is what it is.In-progress recordings are restricted from being transferred. Supposedly this is due to a deal with the NFL, not for any technical reason.
An additional TiVo would not help. Although I think this restriction was lifted with the Premiere's true streaming method, when that was briefly available.
One solution would be a Slingbox.I have aTiVo HD now.
I suspect I know that answer to this but if it can't why? I thought I saw a way to do it via VLC (choppy I know) but I can't find the command now.
Thanks!
I was looking for a way to record a show on one TV, and play it back on another (that doesn't get that channel via Antenna or QAM tuner) via a PC.Make sure you are understanding how this works. Are you asking for dual viewing through your network or simply being able to view your TiVo output on another TV?
Because it has been demonstrated that TiVos have active signals on all of their outputs, so if you are really looking to simply use one unit with multiple TVs, that can be done.
That's different. Where are the two TVs located relative to each other?I was looking for a way to record a show on one TV, and play it back on another
Assuming this post is in response to my query, it is not relevant to my query, although it is applicable to the thread in general.Tivo does not record from a TV, but rather records from the antenna or cable source. It outputs the recording/Live TV to all the outputs at once and cannot output 1 video to 1 TV and another video to another TV at the same time.
The HD Tivo is in the living room, and second TV the bedroom. No Tivo box in the second room.....That's different. Where are the two TVs located relative to each other?
Sorry this wasn't clear initially. Two TV's (one TiVo Multistream Card, one just a QAM tuner). Not close enough to use output via a second source on the TiVo. Was looking for a way to stream it from the live recording box to a PC. I see it isn't really feasible.Assuming this post is in response to my query, it is not relevant to my query, although it is applicable to the thread in general.
The fact the TiVo usually does not record from the TV is not the point. The TiVo has multiple video outputs, and if the TVs are fairly close to one another and cables can be run to both directly from the TiVo, then little or no additional equipment may be necessary. His request does not seem to imply wanting different video on both TVs.
