I am not aware of multistream CC's from Cablevision. My charge is $1.25 per card plus $1.50 for the second digital link. At least with two cards, if one goes bad you still can receive digital channels with the other. Of course if the TiVo HD or S3 goes bad, you are out of luck.mikesown said:For those who have CV, does CV provide multistream cards? If so, do you still get charged $2.50 per month for 2 streams, or just $1.25 a month for a card?
Thanks,
Mike
just had to add that the reason CC use is so low is because the cable co's don't want you to know about them. its kind of a catch22. however, you watch what happens when a major CE advertises cc's will save you money every month. but until that day comes, cc use will be at a snail's pace.Stylin said:I'm with CV in NY and they usually roll the latest products out to my area first. I called about MCards and a Tech Supervisor told me he was aware of them, but had heard of absolutely no plans to offer them. He said the demand for single stream cards was still pretty low, so doubts CV will invest in mcards anytime soon.
CV uses a contractor in central NJ to install their cable boxes and CC's.wmelnick said:I know some of the installers for CV. They know about TiVos, at least on Long Island. The installers have all gotten copies of the install sheets for the Series 3 units (usually on their own) and are all becoming familiar with the units. They do not know they difference between a series 3 and a tivo-hd since they are so new (relatively) but they installers pretty much know how to deal with them now.
It was nice of them to charge you $46 (that's what they charge in my area) for the privilege of doing it yourselfJacksTiVo said:CV uses a contractor in central NJ to install their cable boxes and CC's.
The two techs that came to my house (first batch of CC's were defective) had never seen a TiVo S3. I did the install and they made the phone call to dispatch.
Two visits had to cost them a lot more than the $46. It is beyond me why they do not want their customers to do it themselves if they have the know how. Probably because there are so many defective CC's that they do not want to hear from irate customers who have to return for another set of CC's.dbenrosen said:It was nice of them to charge you $46 (that's what they charge in my area) for the privilege of doing it yourself![]()
thanx for the headsup. been waiting a while for this, at least to save money (2 tivohd's) and have only one CC in each tivo will be better if a reboot is necessary. tivo and cc#2 never seem to like each other after a reboot. constant black/grey screen with a press of the clear key to remove cv's graphic is the only way out.To bring a old thread back to life...
As of this morning, M-Cards are available to Long Island Cablevision customers for TiVo-HD's.
I have an no-charge service call scheduled for Friday 7/18/08. They wanted to charge for the truck roll to pull my old (quan 2) S-Cards but I told them if they charge for removing the always troublesome S-Cards then they can take both of the cards, their cable modem and the SA8300HD DVR with them and cancel my account with Cablevision.
They agreed to do the exchange for free.
PS- they may tell you the M-Cards aren't available for Long Island yet, but they just got an email referencing it this morning, so stick to your guns.
Are M-cards really any more reliable than S-cards in general?but I told them if they charge for removing the always troublesome S-Cards
Well, guess the joke was on me (again)! To bring a old thread back to life...
