I already searched the forums and this doesn't seem to show up.
1. In August I called Onelink Communications in Puerto Rico to see if they rented CableCards and they told me yes.
2. I finally splurge on an HDTV in September and order a Tivo S3. When it gets here I call the company and they say that they only sell 1 CableCard per customer TOTAL and that it will not allow me to view digital or HD channels and that if I want more than one television in my house I'm going to have to buy their $30 a month DVR.
3. In case you don't know all Federal Laws apply the same to Puerto Rico so whatever strategies have worked in the continental US should work down here too.
4. I currently have my Tivo working thanks to the M-Card I 'stole' from their DVR which actually allows me to view the HD channels and the Premium channels no problem. No multi-stream though. However this set-up is costing me $200 a month
So my questions are.
1. Are they allowed to sell only 1 cablecard per customer total? The tech support said their system could only handle one card. She seemed incapable of explaining why it is that I can have 2 functional DVRs if they're also based on CableCards.
2. Are they allowed to sell any CableCards or do they have to sell CableCards that allow access to premium and HD channels (which I'm being charged for)?
3. Does anyone have any experience dealing with local telecom regulation agencies? How long would it take for a complaint to have any effect?
4. I get a 10 dollar charge for access to their Program Guide; and I'm told that it's a required fee if I want HD. Is this permitted? I don't see the point of paying for two different program guides.
5. Anyone with experience dealing with Onelink would be a huge help. I know for a fact they don't have a waiver for the Cablecard mandate so.
