I bought a cablecard from Comcast roughly 18 months ago and the install went off without a hitch.

I recently moved 3 months ago and since then I can't receive HD channels. With everything else going on, and dreading making a call, I haven't resolved the issue yet.

Does anyone have a suggestion with how I should deal with calling Comcast?
Any tips?

My assumption is I call them, give them the CableCard number info, and they can activate it. But my Comcast Warning Light is going off, and I'm concerned it won't be that easy.

When we had to exchange one of our S3s, I had to call Cablevision to have the cable cards rebound to our account. Initially, the cards were working fine when we just put them in the new S3, but after a few weeks, we started missing channels.

When I made the call, I went through the menus for technical support, and I just told them that we'd had a power outage. I was already armed with the cable card numbers and the host IDs, and the whole thing took less than 10 min on the phone.

Now, this was with Cablevision, and not with Comcast, but if you play it the way I did and be confident with what you know has to happen, I'm sure you can handle it all on the phone.

I'm also pretty sure that I've read here that someone else had to do this with Comcast and was successful with just a phone call.

I'm sure I can pull the cable card number off my TV menu, but where do I grab the host ID number?
You get the cable card number from the sticker on the card itself, which means you'll have to remove them from the unit and write that info down before calling. We have Scientific Atlanta cards, and the card #s start with PK.

I can't remember if the Guided Setup screen came up automatically when I replaced our cards, but if it does, just follow along with it like it says here: Installing Cable Cards in a Series 3 .

After you finish that, you can call Comcast. Be sure you've written down the Host IDs for each card before you call, and they should be able to rebind them to your account.
