I have a Tivo Premiere that I am replacing with an Edge. I am an Optimum customer. Will I be able to switch one of the cable cards from the Premiere and put into the Edge without having to call customer service? (Not likely but thought I would ask.)

You'll need to call and have them re-pair the cable card with new TiVo.

They are almost always M cards, the odds of finding an S card in the wild is rare since they were superseded in 2007

The model is called Premiere. Not sure if there is a model number. It has 2 cards and able to record 2 shows simultaneously.

Please look at the rear of the unit.

According to weaknees, this could be a Premiere or Premiere XL; this tivo should only have one cable card.
In that case it would be a multi stream card and should work fine in the new tivo; after the cable company authenticates it.

It is not a Premiere, they only have 1 card slot.

Look on the back label for model number, starts with TCD.
Look in Menu, system Information. Model is first 3 numbers of Tivo Service number.

To answer your original question.
Yes, yes you should be able to swap the cable card.
But the cable co will have to marry it to the new TiVo.
