I have 5 TiVos. Two are on lifetime and 3 are on the multi-discount rate of $6.95/month.

Two TiVos have now died. One died in the summer and one died last night (after reading the board, I think it may have been due to Service Upgrade). So now I really need to get one fixed.

The one that died in the summer is on the multi plan at $6.95 a month. I was going to try to replace the drive, but I think it might be cheaper to buy a new Series 2. When I went on TiVo to see the prices, they all come with service plans - at more that $6.95 a month!!

Is it possible to get a new TiVo and have the multi rate price apply - or is that pricing gone?

Can anyone let me know how to go about doing this?

Thanks!

If you still want a S2 since the hi defs are out, this is the deal:

FREE S2 dual tuner(click here)

You will have to commit to 3 years to get the lowest rate(6.95).

It does qualify for msd. To see the msd deal, select the $12.95 monthly plan and click thru.

When you are taken to the shopping cart page, log in at the top right and you will be shown the msd.

Other than that, Big Lots has the same unit for $70. It is brand new but they are probably not an authorized dealer so no rebates and maybe no mfr warranty. I just got one there for $56 after coupon but it expired on 10/13. I will transfer it onto my monthly msd, no commit.

I have not opened it yet because I am still debating the Tivo.com deal.

ps. I think all the plans at Tivo.com will show the msd, if you qualify, after you log in to your Tivo account.

So, related question (trying not to threadjack).

I have one tivo that just went off contract and another grandfathered in at 6.95 MSD.

Could I buy this unit (for free) and get the three year plan, and then swap it in for my MSD, while keeping that MSD contract free? Since I was going to get a 3 year contract, I might as well get a free new tivo (replace the 80gb single tuner with an 80gb dual tuner . . . )

My initial response would be no, but I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do. Which of your current Tivos are you planning on eliminating?

I'd buy this to replace my single tuner on the MSD.

What I'd like to do is transfer the MSD to my existing DT and then add the new DT purchased through this offer to my account.
