It was tolerable, but like you said suffers from a lot of bad TV tropes.

He has a motorcycle to show he is a rebel. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go away now that he has interns and they have established his character. I got the impression they went to medical school together.

I am guessing, but assumed she moved to be closer to where she had surgery. I have known a bunch of people who relocated for major surgery or if there is a program there that isn't available locally. I had family driving from Tampa to Gainesville to see a doctor at one point.

It is obvious they are trying to make another House, MD. No idea if it will be successful, but the whole mom drama feels like it is going to be over the top like most network TV these days.

Episode 2 was more of the same. Not enough to get me to drop it, but I don't know how long I will stick with it either.
