I believe that was the tagline for the early promos for this season. Walter White is not in danger, he IS the danger. I loved it.

One thing that was unclear at first was the cleaning ladies.

At first I thought they were the car wash laundry ladies, cleaning the towels! Then I realized the laundry facility was a bit big for that.

Speaking of car washes, just prior to getting the job I have now (that I've been at for 11 years) I worked at a local car wash. Best car wash in town, but the owners are horrible to work for. It would be 105 degrees, but if we were caught standing around in the shade, even if there were no cars, they'd fire people. They'd sit in their cars across the street with binoculars, picking them off. Crazy stuff.

So when I left for the job I have now, I went in to quit. They said oh, where are you going, and I told them. I didn't give anything but facts, but they started giving me crap about how I was moving into an cush office, and wouldn't be working hard, because it wasn't outdoor labor.

My response was to tell them how much money I was making for breaking my back in an air conditioned office, and how it was rough, but I'd manage. That was fun. I don't think I'd buy the car wash though.

Walter going all Heisenberg on Skyler didn't seem to work out like he planned. :)

This was a good episode. Lots of stuff going on.

A bit like Tony Soprano --- his colleagues fear and respect him, but at home Tony is second banana to Carmella, and the kids talk back to him.

Walter is no where close to getting the fear and respect from "colleagues", but is on his way to earning it.

If you'll recall from last season, the Super Lab is in the basement of an industrial laundry, and one of those massive washing machines has to lift up on hydraulics to reveal the entrance to the Super Lab. I never had any question about who the ladies were that Walt was talking to. What I couldn't understand is why he didn't realize that once he takes them to the lab and they see what's down there, they have to be killed (or deported). Did he really think Gus was going to allow those ladies to know his most precious secret and then not do anything about it?

A couple episodes ago, Skylar was freaked out about Walt spending $300 on a bottle of champagne. What did Walt think was going to happen when he bought Jr. a brand new Dodge Charger?

That whole plot issue makes no sense. If Skylar is totally crazy, then Walt should call her on it. But he does not. And yet, if they just spent $800K on a car wash, how hard can it be to come up with a story to explain buying a car (or a $300 bottle of wine)? Just nonsense.

I don't, actually, but then again, last season was when I first started watching (then later caught up on DVD's from Netflix). But that's ok, I watch a lot closer now. :)

I love how Jesse's really earning respect from Mike, and through that, from Gus. Meanwhile, Walt's not only losing respect, but isn't giving any to Jesse. This can't be good for Mr. White.

I don't think Walt is losing respect for Jesse -- he's just frustrated by trying to stay one step ahead of Gus, and the whole move with Jesse and Mike is throwing him for a loop.

I think Gus expected Jessie to fail. He wanted to drive a wedge between Walt and Jessie (which he has done) so when he needed to kill Jessie, it wouldn't be as big of a problem for Walt. Gus seemed genuinely surprised that Jessie is doing well. It was a good move for Gus.

God, I can't stand Skylar. Even if Walt had won upwards of $800K to buy a car wash (plus the money they have been spending on medical bills for Walt and Hank) the casino would need to have some record of this (which they won't). Her whole "the IRS will get us theory" is just stupid. That being said, I'm guessing Walt will eventually get taken down by the IRS.

I found it odd that the 3 Honduran women knew that it wasn't OK to go downstairs. They looked genuinely scared. It seems they already have a clue on whats going on down there.

Isn't this why they enlisted the expertise of Saul? (I don't know the first thing about money laundering, so I just have to believe what TV tells me.)

Yeah I don't know how the whole money laundering thing works but should the IRS ever want to look into the casino thing it wouldn't take much to show Walt never won that money gambling. And I would think when Walt does his taxes that amount of gambling winnings would be a huge audit flag.

I just hope the final season doesn't focus on an IRS investigator vs. Hank. :)

Skyler is an accountant. She seems to understand forensic accounting as she discovered some shady stuff at Beneke Motors. She would understand the importance of being accountable for even the perception of conspicuous consumption. The IRS brought down Al Capone, so her concerns are real. Non-accountants would take for granted what the IRS can uncover, but she gets it.
