Bought the wrong WeakKnees upgrade?

Hi-

I just purchased two upgrades kits, each for two different DirectTV Tivo units. The first for my HD unit and the second for my standard unit. Only two kits were listed under the DirectTV section, the R10 and the HR10-250. So I purchased one of each. (DUMB!)

When I went to start the upgrade on the Standard unit, I noticed that on the back it said the model was not R10 but a Phillips DSR708.

So I guess I got the wrong kit :( . The question is: will this upgrade kit work on this unit, or do I need to do an exchange.

Thanks!

Jeffrey

I would call Weaknees, but my guess is that will not.
Heh... it's the weekend and I already partially disassembled the thing before noticing I'd blown it...
Well... I just heard back from WeakKnees via their email support (phone support is only available from Mon-Fri, but email is 7 days a week). And yes, they really did as promised and checked their support email and responded to my request in less than 2 hours... Wow. Excellent support, folks!

So for the benefit of any having a similar issue someday, the kit will work just fine. They said I just needed to get the correct instructions from their site.

:-D

I wonder. The R10 runs 6.1 and the DSR704 runs 6.2. Will 6.1 boot on the 704? Dunno. Maybe. I suppose Weaknees would know.
I don't believe an R10 drive will work in a DSR704. One is a series 2 and the other is a series 2.5 and the OSes are not interchangeable AFAIK.

If the upgrade kit is for adding a 2nd drive then it shouldn't matter which OS or Tivo platform you're running. All they did was run BlessTiVo on a blank drive and charge you through the nose for it.
