Hi, I have an HR10-250 and like most here, I want the new HD channels so I need the HR20. Here's my question: Is possible to have both hooked up to the same TV? Basically, I would like to continue using the HR10-250 for everything except the new HD channels, which I would use the HR20 for.

Is this Possible? Does DirecTV allow it? And how would this need to be hooked up? (My HDTV has 1 HDMI input and Component as well)

As long as your TV has enough inputs, as your's does, DirecTV won't care or why would they know?

Heck, I have my HR10, a non DVR HTL-HD, and two SD TiVos connected to my TV. :)

I have DirecTV - I have an HR10-250 hooked up using HDMI and a Series 2 Tivo hooked up thru an old DirecTV receiver (via another input) to the same TV. No problem. I pay for 2 receivers - DirecTV will expect you to pay for both receivers. There are no issues. You just switch between the two inputs.

Well right now I have a Triple LNB dish, and I have and I have 2 TiVos and they're in separate rooms. Each TiVo has 2 tuners so 2 Cables from the Dish are connected to 1 TiVo and 2 more are connected to the Other TiVo in the other room.

Since I'll be upgrading and the Triple LNB Dish will be replaced with the 5 LNB Dish, will it be possible to have 4 cables going in 1 room (2 for the HR10-250 & 2 for the HR20) and Then 2 more going in another room with a TiVo? This is possible? And the Installer will have no problem doing this for me?

Edit :
Or is there an easier way to do this by Connecting the HR10-250 to the HR20?

If I OWN 2 TiVos Plus LEASE an HR20 will they charge me $4.99 + $4.99 for mirror/lease fees?

Thats no problem. The installer will run 4 lines from the 5 LNB dish to a multi-switch which has 8 lines out.

You can't do that.

I don't know for sure, but I think you will get charged $4.99 for each satellite reciever plus $10.99 for the HD package since you are getting a new HR20.

Thanks for the info. I have the OLD HD package for $9.99 before they switched up all the programming costs. Are you saying things will change if I get the HR20?

In your case, I think you will keep the $9.99 price for the HD package. I own two HR10-250s and don't have the HD package. If I get an HR20, D* will force me to pay $10.99 for the HD package whether I want it or not.

Having 3 Hr 10s or 2 HR10s and an HR20 would cost the same. Your 1st receiver has no lease/mirroring fee but any additional receivers have a $4.99 lease/mirroring fee each. If you have any DVRs there is a $5.99 DVR fee which covers as many DVRs as you want it to

To answer your original question, I have both HR10 and HR20 receivers hooked up to the TV via separate HDMI and Component inputs. No problem.

My usage will be the same as you describe. In addition, should you desire, you will be able to record/watch live up to four programs simultaneously. (Not that there will ever be four programs worthy of such attention.<g>)

Be sure to have your installer run the cables from the new dish through a (free) 6x8 WB68 mutiswitch, so you will be able to connect possible future additional receivers.
