LOL, one of my co-workers deleted it and season pass 15 minutes into the episode. It's gone from being the funniest shows on the air to losing it's focus and too scattered. Also way too much social statements.
You missed a lot at the end. it was the most funny thing happen at the end.

What show did you think you were watching? There practically hasn't been one Alan Shore case on BL where David E. Kelley hasn't gotten his soap box out. Kelley's been doing this certainly at least as as far back as Picket Fences.

You're absolutely right, he always uses his show for soap boxing, but the first episode of this season seemed to be considerably more then usual.

Perhaps the subject matter of the first episode of this season is closer to your heart, for some reason, and that makes this one episode seem more preachy to you than others. It simply isn't the case, though, IMHO. I can point to a half-dozen episodes in the first season that were far preachier than this past episode.

Personally, I don't see the problem with the preachiness, as some call it.

People seem to be offended these days when they find that there are people in the world who disagree with them (or perhaps just when they see an opinion on a TV show, as if the characters or producers of the show wouldn't have one)

I think it's nice to have a break from the humor. If it offended me when people don't agree with me, I'd probably dislike it.

There have been episodes where there was too much preaching and not enough comedy, but this episode was not it.

Let me just start off by saying I don't miss an episode of BL, I have two of my TiVO's recording it, just in case.... That is the *only* network show I watch. In fact it's probably the only fictional show I watch period.

But I was disappointed in the season premier. DC's open scene was good. Larroquette's character was a ahole but he softened by the end to make him fit in, bring back Odo, Rene's character was a sanity check to the goings on and glue that held things together.

Losing 4 characters I thought were pretty well developed, well I have my doubts if it's going to be good now, and I wouldn't be surprised if I lose my interest during the season. And based on the first show that could happen. RA, MV, and CZ added to the show IMO, I liked their characters, JB I can take or leave.

DEK's going to have to come up with some pretty good scripts to make up for the loss of those 4 characters and he doesn't seem to be off to a great start. The episode was ok but it wasn't great as a season opener should be.

I don't see it as preachiness at all. I see it as thoughtful. They present two sides, and, in my view, give information that can provoke thinking and evaluating issues. I love that.

OTOH, I can't stand the shows that seem to intend to create fear, terror, and have all sorts of random violence and special violent effects. If I wanna be scared, I can watch the news!!

If they hadn't made it an hour and a half, I think it would have been better for the pacing and would have helped keep interest up through the whole thing. I was ready for it to end after an hour and ten or so, but I enjoyed anyway.

IMO, JL's character should have remained an ass. He could have provided dramatic tension, but if he remains soft, that goes right out the window. Of course, that could have gotten old, too, but having him get more pleasant over a few episodes would have been better.
