Bose Soundbar

I was reading the above old thread after trying for an hour or so to get my TiVo Glo Remote to power on/off both my Panasonic TV and Bose 700 Soundbar. That thread gave me the idea to enter the Bose 1007 code into the TV Power in the TiVo settings.

Here's what I did, I first set the TV Power code to my Panasonic TV 0359, then set the AVR setting to the Bose 1007, then went back to the TV power settings and entered the Bose AVR number 1007 here too. Eureka it works! My TiVo Glo Remote now powers both devices on and off.

I tried learning the code between remotes with no luck. I tried adding a second TV power on / off by selecting 1 / 2 before TV Power with no luck - see below.

I tried all the Bose codes in AVR and only 1007 controlled the volume +/- and mute but not power on / off. You get the point, lots of trial and error.

I hope this helps others out. If my steps are unclear just ask.

Oh and don't believe the bad reviews about this Soundbar, it's fantastic. As long as you are tech savvy with your phone and can program a remote it is cutting edge technology and the sound is incredible.

The 1/2 switch is only for controlling 2 Tivos separately, not TV/AV devices.

Not true, read the link. I originally successfully programmed the TiVo Glo remote to control my old Sony soundbar by learning and same TV on / off with this link:

For some reason the TiVo Glo would not learn the Bose 700 Soundbar on / off with the 1 /2 method.

Tivo is a joke at this point. The codes don't work, support is totally clueless and tells you stupid stuff like to reboot your device. They have no clue. Bose support said their soundbars work just fine with universal remotes and they provide the hexcodes to manufacturers like Tivo, when they ask for them. I'm not keeping a soundbar that I need a separate remote to operate so I'll either return it or just drop Tivo after 15 years altogether. They just keep going downhill more and more.

Yes, I did exactly what you said. Nothing controls the Bose 500 unit. I spent hours online looking info up, tried several things including your steps, spoke with both Bose support and Tivo support and nothing allows me to control the volume except the included Bose remote. I have a Bose Solo 5 in the bedroom and the included codes with Tivo work correctly for that model so there is no reason Tivo shouldn't have codes for the other models. In addition, after I started looking at other soundbar brands, I noticed Tivo doesn't have JBL or SONO in their list with codes either so those probably won't work (at least with a straightforward approach). This really should not be this complicated but the most frustrating part is how bad Tivo support always is. Telling us stuff like rebooting the device and that I need to contact Bose is not the answer. I generally feel like I know more than they do when I talk to them and as a 15+ year customer, I remember the days of excellent support. Thanks for trying to help everyone else though!

I clearly stated that this worked with the Bose 700 Soundbar. Sorry you are not getting the same good results with the 500.

You should also program the remote (Tivo+Power) with the same code to use the power button to turn on/off the AVR.
Its separate from Tivo+Mute to control Vol/Mute. This will not reset the TV power button and will turn both on/off.

Tivo and Bose do work together on the TiVo remote!
