Quick newby question. I’ve had a Bolt VOX with Comcast cable card for over a year and it’s been great. I have several Minis set up over MOCA and Ethernet.

I bought my father-in-law a Bolt OTA as a gift but he flatly refused it. I’m thinking of adding it to my network. My question is, would I be able to watch the Comcast programming and antenna programs on the OTA or will it only show the OTA channels when connected?

Thanks

It cannot share the channels, but recordings can be shared between them. Because of the TE4 software, you would have to use online.tivo.com to transfer non-copy-protected content between them. All content can be streamed between them, even the copy-protected ones. They just need to be on the same network, be listed on your tivo.com, have Tivo Service subscription, account with Preferences to sharing enabled. Which would get the Media Access Key the same on all boxes, account.

Your Bolt OTA will only show you the OTA channels to watch LIVE or to make new recordings. But it will easily let you watch any other already recorded programs from your cable-connected TiVo on your home network. The only thing you will not be able to do is watch a cable channel LIVE from the new Bolt OTA using the cable tuners on the other Bolt.

Same goes for both directions ... but with the caveat that a "live" recording *can* be viewed remotely if it is also being currently recorded on the other box; you'd just have to select it for playback from My Shows.

The best solution for such a setup would probably be to have both DVRs at the same location, allowing easy access to all programming and configuration by switching between TV inputs ... and then using Minis everywhere else, switching the Mini host DVR configuration when a different DVR is desired for live TV (or to setup or manage recordings and other settings).

The Bolt OTA does not have a built in Moca bridge like the Bolt Vox does. You would need to purchase a Moca extender or connect it via Ethernet. You could try WiFi, but it may not adequate to stream shows.
