Hey guys,

I had a Tivo Bolt that crapped out, just got the replacement -
I had upgraded my old Bolt w/ a 3TB drive, so I want to put that in the
replacement Tivo.
Did that but I got a "Detected Software Downgrade" error message when the Tivo booted.
I don't care about my recordings, I just want to format/setup my 3TB drive to
install in the replacement Tivo Bolt - what is the fastest way to do this?
Can I format it in Windows or do I need to run MFS Tool - think I used WinMFS last time around.

Thank you for your time!

Connect to the PC and erase it.

None of the windows formats work in a Tivo. Basically remove everything from the drive, partitions, formats.

by 'erase' do you mean format? and what file system do I use?
And will the entire 3TB be used once the Tivo reformats?
Usually you can use the manufacturer diagnostic software to write zeros to the drive.

Your new TiVo is on TE4 and the old drive had TE3 so it detected a software downgrade. No matter which OS version you use the drive still needs to be wiped.

You could try a kickstart 76543210 on boot up and it may wipe and reformat it all in one step.
