My <5 year old Bolt died from some unknown cause a few days ago. Tivo is replacing it but tells me I will lose all recordings in its DVR and in my outboard expander (~ 1.3TB’s worth!). This question has probably already been discussed, but is there any hope of recovering these recordings and putting them on the new box/expander combo? Any help gratefully accepted!

Once the drive died, and it will not boot up to being operational, you cannot save anything.
I do not know how you can get an expander connected since it only allows only the original Tivo expander to work.
Bolts use 2.5 inch laptop drives and they seem to fail quickly.

Cuidado--not for many users (and who knows what percentage of Bolt users who post about an issue make up).

You could try a new power supply, it's the only thing other than a hard drive that is user serviceable and can have an issue from time to time. You could also remove the expander to see if that is the problem. Their use is not recommended here due to the increased point of failure.

You can remove the expander to see if it is the problem but doing so will cause you to lose recordings as the expander is married to the other drive.

I would try the power supply first if you can.
