We moved to Florida, have Spectrum, and learned from our neighbor that we could use TiVo instead of Spectrum's DVR. We had TiVo for many years before, so were delighted and got a Bolt. Now, not so delighted. We're so happy to have the remote back, but the Bolt doesn't seem to interact with the Spectrum program guide. You can record from the Guide (the grid of what's coming up today), but it is not recording our OnePass items consistently. We have talked to both TiVo and Spectrum--card is paired, have restarted, repeated Guided StartUp, made sure they removed the old programming, etc. Suggestions for how to make this work? The TiVo people are lovely, and very sorry we are having a problem, but other than having us reconnect multiple times, are unable to help. The Spectrum people are lovely, but also unable to solve the problem. Help!

In my opinion, ALL cable companies are greedy maggots, and since I totally quit dealing with them in any way, I cannot help if your problems come from them. But I assume you are set up correctly; you said your cable card was paired OK, and the maggots should know if you need a tuning adapter to ruin your life or not.

And since you said your TiVo does see the guide and can record current programs, I further assume the cable service is set up correctly. So that leaves problems inside the Bolt itself.

Where did you get the box? If it is from the thieves on ebay or a "refurbished" box from TiVo, then I'd say there is an overwhelming chance that the box is just defective. If you got it directly from TiVo, make them send you another one. If you bought a used one, then you are probably just screwed.

But the Bolts have been so unreliable and fraught with problems, maybe TiVo will replace it anyway? They HAVE done that for some people, but not after the customer has admitted to them that they bought a used box. My point is, if you try to work with Tivo on these problems, just focus on the errors and the fact the box is not working, and do not address where the box came from unless you bought it directly from them.

When you say "the grid of what comes up today" can you see anything in the future (past a day or two) - incomplete guide data can cause Onepass trouble.

By the way, you said that your 1Ps were not recording "consistently", but you did not give any further details on what that means. I thought I would add that this might simply be part of the wonderful garbage included in the current code from Bad_Rovi called TE4.

I have MANY 1Ps that do not record consistently on the one Bolt I have running TE4 - primarily for old TV series that regularly show on channels like H&I, but also on PBS. I usually have those 1Ps set up to record new &reruns, and keep ALL episodes, and sometimes they just stop recording.

Checking the history shows the lie that the episode was a duplicate. In one case, I found that the 1P would not record any episode with real episode numbers and information, but it WAS still recording the episodes that were being listed with only generic program titles! If anything, those "generically" listed episodes should have been the ones skipped as "duplicates", but the opposite was happening. In those cases, changing the 1P options to record Everything gets the recordings going again, but at the cost of sometimes really getting duplicate recordings. In other cases, I found that actually deleting all the existing recordings some how triggered the 1P to start recording properly again; apparently something about the last one in the recorded list was telling it to just stop all future recordings.

There is also a known bug where some 1Ps that are set up to keep only 1 episode (but delete as needed for space), such as maybe trying to just record today's news programs each day, will incorrectly not record many new episodes because it lies and says the KAM limit was already reached.

These are clearly bugs in the Rovi code and/or crappy errors in their now terrible guide content, but they have no desire to look into them or fix the problems.

What do you mean Tivo can't read the Spectrum guide when it does not use it. Tivo uses its own guide from Rovi where it gets it over the internet.
