I have a 3TB Bolt with 6 tuners on Spectrum with a Cisco Cable card and Tuning Adapter and 2 Minis.

Recently I started seeing an issue where the Minis would say the Bolt was using all the tuners so the mini couldn't tune to a live channel. When looking at the recordings that wasn't true, the Bolt was typically using no more than 2 or 3.

Then the Bolt started having issues where I would tune it to one of the higher channels and it would hang for about 10 seconds then give a cryptic message about not being able to tune to the channel and a single Ok button which when pushed would actually tune to the channel but it wouldn't work. Many of the other higher channels would begin giving the error to the point where few channels would work right.

Another aspect was I would be watching a show that was being recorded when it would turn black for about 5 seconds and then the show would return but it was no longer being recorded. This happened on shows I wasn't watching too. Anything that was recording when this happened would only record a short time, typically only a few minutes.

I originally thought it was the TA as restarting it would fix the problem for as long as 6-10 hours but then it would happen again so I went to Spectrum and traded it for another one.

The night I got the new one it started again so I assumed maybe it was the cable card so I went to Spectrum and got a new one but the same issue kept happening.

So then I figured it must be the Bolt so I talked to Tivo and they were having the special on a new Edge for $199 so I bought one and set it up yesterday.

And then guess what, it started the EXACT SAME issue all over again. So now I'm back to square one. I've been trying to be methodical since I am an Electronics Engineer and I think my troubleshooting is following logic but I'm no closer to a working solution and out $200 from the new Edge.

I just want it to work. Is it time to call in a tech? The worst problem is it still fixes the problem if I unplug and replug the TA. Is it likely I would get a second TA that acted just like the first?

I'm really tired of this problem. Anyone got an idea what's going on?

When the box loses signal, the recordings typically just stop.

What signal strengths do you have. Not being able to tune can be a problem with the signal too strong or too weak.

Also, does this happen on just SDV channels or all of them?

I have not checked signal strength but I could. I'm not sure which channels are SDV. I'm in the San Fernando Valley on the west side.

I would think the fact it all comes booming back with just restarting the TA suggests the signal is probably strong enough. I can always go get another TA and try it. The fact it is fixed after restarting it makes it seem like that's the issue but to get 2 that act the same just seems odd.
