Black screen when changing channel

This problem just started this week on our Tivo HD. When I change the channel I get nothing but a black screen for 3 minutes. All of the sudden the channel comes in. When I change the channel again it happens all over again. We also have a Tivo Premiere that works fine. I can't figure out if it is a problem with the Tivo box or the m-card.

Are you using a Tuning Adapter? If so that would be my first suspect -- not a defective TA but a problem with the USB interaction between TiVo and TA or the communication between the TA and the cable system. Reboot both TiVo and TA. Unfortunately, cable system hardware and programming defects can also create TA tuning glitches.

I am not using a tuning adapter. I called Verizon today and was on the phone with them for almost an hour and a half. They have now idea what is going on so they are sending a new cable card to my local Verizon store which I will then have to go pick up. Not sure why they couldn't just mail it directly to me. If it fixes my issue I'll be happy.

Ask them if they are doing Switched Digital Video in your area.
MLWings19 - I have Verizon FIOS in Maryland and am experiencing exactly the same problem. I have a Series3 HD (the first HD capable box from TIVO) and a Series2. The problem is only on my Series3. I am not using a tuning adapter. My problems have been over the last two weeks or so, which coincides with your problem timeframe. My guess is it may be a Verizon issue. ???
I've this problem as well...as a matter of fact it just started last night Have a 42" Sharp Aquos and my setup, before last night has worked perfectly.

Done this morning:
1. Rebooted Tivo.
2. Gone thru and confirmed all settings.
3. Switched from 1080i to 720 to Native but still have the problem.

I'm on Fios.

Not sure where to go next for a resolution to the black screen.....it's happening when switching channel, black about 3 or 4 seconds. In the past my channels would switch immediatly w/ no black.

Suggestions?

And I'm using my Series 3 without an external drive.
