I hadn't watched any Biograpy episodes in years and frankly, I had forgotten it was still on. A friend of mine mentioned that he'd been watching the recent episodes on WWE "Superstar" wrestlers and how well he thought they were done. Yesterday, I watched the episode on Shawn Michaels. I was never a Shawn Michaels fan and what pro wrestling I was watching on tv during his heyday was WCW or ECW, not WWE. I figured I'd watch a little bit just to have something to discuss with my friend but ended up watching the entire compelling two hours. They did a good job with this. I ended up setting the Tivo to record all the other wrestler biographies that seemingly are due to be rebroadcast this weekend.

I always used to enjoy those Biography shows back in the A&E days, but they rarely show them. I wonder if they are getting some sort of wrestling on A&E (or a sister channel) and that's why they are doing this. I haven't watch wrestling since the 1970s when it was more underground, but i know how some of these guys are.

I've watched all of the WWE Biographies so far and enjoyed them. There is another A&E show called WWE's Most Wanted Treasures where they are searching for memorabilia associated with wrestling history. They enlist the wrestler's help to find the items and along the way tell stories that the general public is unaware of. I was never a Jerry Lawler fan, but he talks about the lengths that Andy Kauffman went to sell their feud back in Memphis wrestling in the early 80s.

So what is the tie in between A&E and the WWE?

The Booker T episode was excellent. It showed how he overcame a very rough childhood and teenage years to straighten himself out as a young adult and gain success and popularity in his wrestling career through hard, talent and personality. It is almost the polar opposite of the Shawn Michaels episode which depicted Michaels as a self destructive a-hole for most of his career only to redeem himself afterwards. Booker T was a good person for his entire career and after.

The Ultimate Warrior episode in in my tivo's queue. I always thought he was a clown and avoided watching him like the plague. Maybe my opinion of him will change when I get around to watching it, which I am not eager to do.
