The 5th season of Showtime's Billions starts tonight. Let the fun begin!

Please do not post spoilers until the current episode has aired on Showtime (cable/satellite/etc). Don't post spoilers from streaming. Thanks!

For a second when they were playing the 'previously on Billions' montage, I thought I accidentally selected Episode 1 of the previous season. I can't keep track of how many times Bobby and Chuck have aligned, then split, then double-crossed each other.

+1

Also, Chucks assistant in the NYAG office, wasn't she gunning to take him down just a few episodes ago? And now they're best buds again?

Lol, I thought the same thing. But then I think they both took Connerty down in the last episode of last season didn't they? I really should have watched the last few episodes of last season to keep track of who is double/triple crossing whom. Then it took me a little while to remember why Wendy and her son were living in Bobby's apartment. The bit about their son drinking at the wedding was interesting, I wonder if the son will become a more recurring character.

Does Chuck have anyone left he can count on? I don't think so. Kate would sell him out in an instant if she could get away with it. Wendy has given up on him. His father, if he could ever be counted on, is not to be counted on.

What about Taylor? She seems to inspire loyalty in her people, but I am not sure how deep it goes. Maybe Mafee can be counted on. I have some doubts about how Lauren would hold up if she was tempted with the right bait.

Axe still seems to have people with the deepest loyalty. Wags and Dollar Bill can be counted on. I think Wendy is probably 99% reliable. I think his lawyer (Bach?) is completely reliable.

Ha, same thought! Then it hit me I never know what's up season to season, I just enjoy the ride.

Chuck sure can pontificate.

So we've hit the end of the episodes they finished before the CV shutdown. Nothing organic about this break, it just... stops. For now. Exactly what I was afraid of when they decided to air what they could.

I'm finding Axe a little too much this season. He inspires loyalty because he gives it, but this season he's all about Axe. It makes for wildly swinging relationships. One episode Taylor is in, then she's out. Wendy's in, now she's clearly being played. Axe never had much regard for others, but he always cared about those closest to him. And he's screwing around with the artist, because he's pissed at Wendy. Now it seems, with perhaps the possible exception of Wags, no one is immune from his dead-eye stare.

Little wonder those bankers at the art reception wanted nothing to do with him. He's toxic.

I thought the final episode was ludicrous with the plot of everyone taking an experimental drug without hesitation and all those interns signing up for an obvious ethically challenged project
It never has been a very plausible show, but rather a character driven story. Unfortunately, this season they seem to be having the main characters act in ways that do not seem believable either. I'll probably watch the rest of the season if it ever comes out, but I am not eagerly awaiting more episodes.

I thought it was interesting that they actually mentioned the Covid virus in the last episode. Just in passing, but they acknowledged it.
They actually mentioned the Coronavirus, but not COVID.

<nitpick>
The virus is Coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.
COVID (COVID-19 actually) is the disease caused by the Coronavirus.
</nitpick>

What!?! I did not know that they had to stop filming. I figured the had the season in the can since they started releasing episodes. That kind of sucks.

That being said, I agree with most of the comments here. Nearly none of the characters have any redeeming value any more. Taylor is the only major character that I like (Mike Price is Ok as well, but mostly as a foil for Axe. Plus I liked Taylor's former COO, but she is now gone.)
