Boy, that was bizarre. I really wish they'd change to just eliminating the person with the lowest loss each week. Too much goofy stuff.

I don't know why the trainer got all pissy, his team lost to a team that had one person throw it to go home.
Yeah I wasn't really sure why Brett was all upset and lecturing or why the father who "blew" the green team's weigh in was mad. That whole exchange was confusing to me.

Totally made no sense. He was mad at the wrong person? Personally, I think it would have been great if Caylee had just walked out when Ali gave the entirely to pissy rant about "this isn't a prison". Well, no, it isn't but your production company came up with the stupid rules, don't be surprised when people use them as they see fit in the context of the game. Especially since she was prepped with that line since she knew the situation was coming. The whole fakeness of the weigh in annoys me more each year. They pre weigh everyone and then manipulate the order for maximum drama. Silly.
I wonder what was left out of the episode. You're all correct... the way they aired it made very little sense.
The whole "let's stop the gameplay" rant from Brett would have made more sense if the green guy (I seriously have no idea what their names are still this late in the season) had GAINED weight... but he lost weight... so what was the problem? Very confusing. Something had to have been left out.

i wonder if we could produce a scale that worked the way their 'scale' does. just randomly picking numbers around the weight you were last week, up/down up to like 20 pounds, before finally settling in on the correct weight. think of the fun you'd have weighing yourself

that said, my daughter loves the weigh-in part, she digs the drama I guess.

i like the show, but it could definitely use some different approaches imo. the worst part for us is the corny voting off name on a tray system, which by itself would be fine but for the long winded "god i love you, and you, and you and you" speeches they all give. i wish there wasn't SOOO much love and crying, i guess </scrooge>

I fast forward through the whole thing. :)

Which leaves me confused sometimes when in the next episode they reference something that happened at the elimination.

I was confused too and went back to check it. I think he thought the gameplay was stupid but even stupidier when it didn't work. I guess he thought Ken should have deliberately lost less weight to make sure Caylee went home instead of actually, you know, trying to lose weight like the contest encourages. Weird.

You wouldn't want that. What would happen is every 2 or 3 times you weigh, it'd flash 2 or 3 weights, stop on a way-too-high number, then just show you a commercial that you'd have to watch... then show the same sequence of numbers AGAIN, before showing your actual weight.

Did you guys catch Ali's facial expressions when she said TBL isn't "a prison"? Oh man, it was a total mom face, and she had the tone the rest of the weigh-in! Don't cross Ali Sweeney.

1. She is an actress.
2. They wrote a good line
3. She delivered it well.

Personally, I think it was a bit sanctimonious. The BL act like they're curing cancer when the truth is, they're out to make money. I think sometimes they get a bit high on their horse about that and this was one of those times.

They knew that Caylee was trying to leave, the have the weight, they have zillions of cameras where they they watch everyone.

Hence, next weeks surprise binge by Rulon.

So, if it made sense, they had a line ready for her to deliver.

Well he probably should have. :) She said that she asked her team to do that (well not in so many words but she alluded to it in her camera interview).

I'm kind of ambivalent about the game playing. On the one hand it's kind of annoying, but on the other hand, most of the time doesn't affect other people directly. You have the people who deliberately gain some water weight when they have immunity so that they'll get a good weigh in the next week, or the people who just gain weight to send themselves home. When it affects others, then it starts to get dicey, but in this case you have Kaylee begging to go home, and I'm sure Justin would have loved to have stayed.

Have you ever SEEN her act? If it wasn't real, there's no way she could have pulled it off. She may be an actress, but she's not a very good one.

Greg
Yeah, I agree. I used to watch Days of our Lives growing up and in college. She is NOT a very good actress. ;)

It wasn't well delivered here either. You could tell she had the line ready.
A great article written by Joe Posnanski (for my money, the best sportswriter in the country) about Rulon Gardner. The article is spoiler free.

Same here. I think I watched one of those god-awful parts and never did it again. It's absolutely painful to watch. I have to believe that being isolated for so long with JUST these people A: drives you crazy, and B: creates irrational bonds to the point where they act like they're physically killing the person by voting them off. I have to think that when they're all gone and watching the show months later, they themselves can't believe how absolutely absurd their emotions were in those moments.

So, if it made sense, they had a line ready for her to deliver.
I'm not following this, unless the consensus is that they fed Ken his line too? She only delivered that line after Ken said "we have a person who wants to go home and unfortunately there is no other way for her to do that" which prompted the comment from Allison. Unless they scripted the entire scene (possible), it just doesn't make sense that she "had the line" already.

You're right, I'm wrong. Thanks!

I think they have lots of possible things for her to say. Clearly they knew she was gonna try and get voted out. So, when it came up, they had some ideas for Ali. When Ken set her up, she used it.

Greg, didn't mean it that way. I think she just delivered the right line they needed. I like Ali but she's not a great actress in my opinion. I think we agree on that.

OK, it's not quite that bad, but my electronic bathroom scale can be off by more than a pound on subsequent attempts.. (So I actually get on it several times in a row, and usually take the highest value as my 'remember for comparison' value.).. and even go +/- 5 lbs in a day.. which seems not too reasonable. I looked at amazon reviews for other electronic scales, and I saw similar comments, so it seems to be a common problem for electronic scales. I think I want a real doctor's office scale with the sliding weights.
