Hi there,

What's the best freeview box to choose? I've cancelled my Sky subscription and got a cheap box from Asda. I got the IR blaster to work with it but the channel numbers are different and won't work with the numbers below 26.

Was wondering if anybody had any advice about a box that can have its channel numbers remapped.

Which one did you buy from Asda? I use a Duraband one from there and its faultless.

I really like my Goodmans GDB3 I got from Argos. It's cheap and very reliable. It's caused me no problems whatsoever and worked well with my tivo before I switched to cable.

The one I got from Asda was their own Onn brand. I saw both those boxes while I was out this morning and will try one of them out.

Have you rerun the guided setup?

Have you done a full rescan on the Freeview box to update it to the current Freeview channel selection.

Both good suggestions - I'd try Pete's one of rescanning the freeview box first because it's the least destructive of the two. The guided setup will lose all your season passes I think? but since it isn't working properly yet, I don't think that would be a problem for you.

Refreshing Guided Setup doesn't wipe any Season Passes, Wishlists, To Do items, thumbs ratings or any of your recorded programmes or Suggestions. There are separate menu options for those tasks.

okay my bad, it's a long long time since I had to do it... I think I may have done a complete reset of everything at the time though which may be what I'm thinking of. My parents had had loan of my tivo till I got my house, so I didn't want their stuff on it.

not having a go just wanted to clarify.

The system reset menu contains 5 options in increasing order of destructiveness, from a simple Restart through to "Clear and delete everything", which can take hours and hours (and then fires up GS IIRC). Just repeating GS though only takes about 30 mins.
