I was sent a PDF of the Best Buy Weekly Circular that starts this Sunday 9/23 and runs through 9/29.

The very new Western Digital 1TB Eco Friendly Caviar GP Hard Drive is being introduced on sale at $259.99 (After $90 Instant Savings from MSRP $349.99)

This hard drive is not even on the Best Buy website yet.

Best Buy will also have the Antec MX-1 eSATA enclosure on sale for $49.99 (after $24 Instant Savings)

I was planning to pick up a couple more Hitachi 1TB hard drives and an Antec MX-1 this weekend to put in my second Series 3 I got this week from CC. But, I think I might wait until Sunday, save a couple of hundred dollards and try out the new WD 1TB drives.

I currently have a Series 3 with internal and external Hitachi 1TB Deskstars drives and they so far have worked great having been installed for over a month.

However, I haven't seen the new TiVo upgrade yet...

WOW! I might need to pick the WD drive up to just try it out.

That's just because there weren't any 1TB drives out when the MX-1 spec was written. I've got a 1TB Hitachi drive in an MX-1 and it is working like a champ.
That's great. I've got the MX-1, but haven't bought the drive yet. I was going to buy another Seagate DB-35 750 (sounds like a cool bike!), but now I may have to reconsider.

Dang... I bought an MX-1 at BB today at lunch!!!! Wonder if they will price match themselves?
Yes they will. Just take your sales receipt in on Sunday and you'll get the credit.

How are the WD 1TB drives in terms of noise? Also, in terms of their lifespan - I've had bad experiences with WD drives in the past.

Unfortunately, I have only a TiVo HD, so this doesn't do me much good yet.

Based on the spec of 25dB seek, this drive family is absolutely the quietest I have seen. I just got one from Best Buy, so I have not tried it yet. WD is the only brand I use for my TiVos.

initial impressions comparing this drive and the WD7500AAKS: lower idle noise and substantially lower seek noise (Hitachi Feature Tool random seek test)

How about compared to the Hitachi 1TB drive?
