Just over one year old and no power up screens. Lights on front all work and fan is running. Help
If you're connecting it to your video display device via HDMI, try the component or composite outputs instead.

They don't have to conduct a conversation about what you are and are not allowed to see therefore, less to go wrong.

Ypui might want to re-think that after reading the title of his post. The base Roamio has no component out and needs a separately purchased breakout cable to do composite.

Well, I did say "or".

And a little research will let the OP figure out where the composite video is on the jack so that they can jury rig something and know how far in to push the plug to see if there's a video signal there.

Or they can remain uniformed and always wonder if it was the TiVo or just the HDMI with the problem.

Thanks for the input! I ordered the cables to try. Don't think it is the hdmi on the tv side because tv works good with other unit hooked up to it. Could the hard drive cause something like this?

My TiVo experience is with nothing newer than the 3 Series 3 models, but if the Roamio follows the pattern of its predecessors, it should put the initial "Welcome" screen into video memory and onto your television screen even without a hard drive connected, because that first screen is actually stored in a chip on the motherboard and not on the hard drive.

So if you're getting nothing on the TV screen at all, I'd suspect some other cause.

One possible exception to that might be if something had gone wrong with the drive that made it draw more current than usual just enough to drag the voltage down just enough to keep the TiVo's CPU from ever getting going well enough to load that first screen. But that's kind of a long shot.

So see if the problem is just HDMI not working, or if it's loss of all forms of video output, and we'll go from there.

I'm deliberately choosing not to use a Q&A format (leaving that to the FAQ) in order to focus on building a list of a relatively modest number of the most informative TiVo links (and briefly explaining why people would want to look at them) rather than having a huge list of answers for specific questions.

I feel you should be able to delete all from the recently deleted folder and once deleted the shows should be completely cleared from storage. I read through one thread that had a lot of negative post saying just ignore them they will be overwritten when space is needed, don't be so anal, etc. If you Google"batch deletion for recently deleted folder there are hundreds of results, so it obviously bugs quite a few people. I like to have free space on my hard drive rather than overwriting files. Call it ocd if you want but it'd s just a personal preference. If I was the only one with this idea I would let it go, but hundreds have the same feelings. I came from dish hopper with a 2tb hd so space was never an issue. I'm glad I can recover shows but once a week or so I would like to clear everything out to free space. I'm not just a jerk that's hard to please, just making a suggestion with the hopes of being heard and not hated for a simply idea. Thank you,

Nobody hates you for expressing this idea, it's just that it has absolutely no merit. The only reason to permanently delete a recording is if you don't want some else in your household to be able to see that you have recorded it.

(And I realize after posting that neither of us should have added these messages to this thread.)

Trying to hook up an RS-TX20 and it is not recognizing my network - network cable attached to a USB adapter. Essentially identical to my other one. Any ideas? Thx
Swap the adapters and then swap locations and note the differences.
