One of the reality shows I like because it actually helps people. This year they brought in an actor http://imdb.com/name/nm0395353/ to partner with a "girl geek". If chuck, journey man and the other new shows this year are any good and stay on the air. I won't have time for the new beauty and the geek. It was bad enough last year with that ***** cecile. This year they one up it brining in the actor to humiliate the geeks. I highly doubt that girl is any sort of geek. She wil wipe the floor with the guys in the challenges since she will have knowlege on women subjects. A good hearted show is now the normal reality trash of humiliating the contestants.

I guess I got 3 good seasons out of the show.

At first, when I heard what the "twist" was going to be, I liked it. Now, I'm not so sure. Part of the reason that I like this show is because the beauties learn that geeks aren't bad guys, after being forced to spend time with them. I'm a little afraid that the beauties are going to fall all over the male beauty, and ignore the geeks. Maybe they'll prove me wrong.

That being said, wow, Joshua needs some major help. Calling his mom on his cell-phone to talk to the beauties for him? That's pretty lame. Some of the other geeks actually seemed to be okay in front of the girls (the juggling dude had no problems, but the baton guy was so nervous he kept screwing up).

Some of the beauties are actually beauties, while the others don't do a thing for me. I'm glad this show has started, I finally have something new to watch on TV!

So far, only one of the geeks is screaming "actor" to me: the little guy with the bowtie. He really seems like he's playing a part. Overall, though, I think they did a pretty good job with casting this year.

ACtually it is the male beauty that is the actor http://imdb.com/name/nm0395353/ . Basically they brought in a ringer team to play the bad guys this year. I feel so bad for the male geeks the women will be all over the rich actor beauty and they won't learn ****. This is the episode where the show jumped the shark. They turned the show from a light hearted fun show into the run of the mill reality show. I don't know how any of the male geeks can win a challenge against this ringer woman.

While I'm sure the 'male beauty' will get some action, I'm not so sure if the geeks will get shut out or that the beauties won't learn anything. After all, there is definite motivation - the $250,000 - for folks to gain new skills.

Sure they will learn the material from the books they are geeks. They won't learn the most important lessons of the show by interacting with the women. I am sure one or 2 of the geeks who will be good looking after the make over episode will get the actors scaps. The rest of the guys the ugly ones will be basically shut out in the cold like they were in social sitations before the show.

I have my doubts about how long the male hottie/female geek team will last. As far as I can tell, they're just as subject to the elimination room as everyone else, and I have to think it would be pretty easy to build a coalition against them. Having one male beauty and one female geek could be interesting for a little while. If they really wanted to shake up the experiment though, they'd have done a 50/50 split.

I do like that it seems that this season's beauties appear to be more genuinely interested in the growth experience of the show than last year's crop.

The female geek has gotta be an actor too.

I haven't seen much of this show in the past, but the other day, I did see a re-cap show from the previous season.

I think you are right that it seemed to be fairly light hearted and that for the most part, the conestants on the show were pretty good. There even seemed to be a true, genuine "love connection".

What was the name of the show that was like a cross between "Beuty and the Geek" and "The Bachelorette"? They had a hot chick with a bunch of geeks. Then, they brought in the ringer hot guys, and of course, the chick wound up picking one of them.

Of course, in this show, there is only ONE ringer dude and 9 "Beauties". Also, I think all the normal contestants smell a rat and will probably try to band together and snub the ringers.

I dunno man, the geeks who aren't perceived as 'cute' after their makeovers have always been shut out by the beauties. Hooking up - while almost expected since this is, what, season 4? - is still the exception, not the rule. A single coupling out of 6-8, after all.

Average Joe? While it's true in Season 1 that the girl picked one of the Hunks, that final average joe (can't remember his name right now) wasn't able to establish the right kind of romantic chemistry with her.

I recognized the male beauty immediately - I just saw him on "Grounded for life" reruns for pete's sake. Are they going to come clean about it or do they think we're all "beauties"?
If not, all credibility is gone. Having guest celebrities is one thing, lying about it is another.

Huh?

Why can't the male beauty be an actor? Actors meet most of the requirements for the beauty part. Good looking and not very smart. It is not like those grow on trees.

How would he qualify as a guest celebrity?

Lots of the women in the past and this season have been models and such. That did not prevent them from participating on the show.

I am not talking hooking but but interacting with the girls. With the good looking actor there the women will be to busy fighting over him to even talk to the ugly guys.

The Female geek should never lose a challenge. There is 1 basic geek challenge.

1. Attracting the opposite sex any remotely decent looking girl will wipe the floor with most men let alone a geek. The phone number challenge is in the bag for the female geek. The speed dating challenge will also be a slam dunk for her. Lets not get in to the auction challenge slam dunk. It is 100000x times easier for a woman to attract a man than the other way around. These geeks have no game it is completely unfair. It is like taking a knife to a tank fight.

There are 2 types of beauty challenges.

1. physical challenges a in shape dude is going to wipe the floor with the women in these challenges.

2. Memorizing a bunch of fact since that is all actors do is memorize lines he should have it pretty damn easy.

The uber bad guy team will just eliminate geek after geek. Any one who can manage a victory against the ringer team will be pulling off a miracle.

I think the chief complaint here is that the male beauty didn't audition to be a contestant the way the regular beauties auditioned to be a beatuty on the show. Same can probably be said for the female "geek".

Not particularly hopeful for this season, huh? ;)

I still think you're jumping the gun in concluding that the girls will simply ignore the geeks. After all, if you use last season as a template - though since every season has been a little different, that's hard to do - the winners where chosen by their peers. I'm pretty sure most of the cast has at least heard about what happened last season.

I've read everything that you've written (and there is plenty of truth to what you're saying), but I really don't see how you can so confidently predict the game. After all, we don't know male beauty & geek girl - they could be the worst cast players in the game. In fact, they probably are...

Outside of those two though, I must agree that this season's casting seems pretty good. I can see some redeeming qualities in the beauties - outside of $8,000 boob jobs :) - that I didn't see in some of last season's beauties...

Speaking of, I found the owner of the $8,000 boob job's explanation of how they were an "investment" to be hilarious. Something along the lines of, "If you counted up all of the free drinks I've gotten because of them, I'd say they've probably pretty much paid for themselves." :D

That's a LOT of free booze!

You may be right that they may be terrible contestants. But somehow, I forsee them lasting a long time. If they get booted out early, it will wreck the twist they introduced this year. I think the producers will do everythign they can to help ensure they stick around.
